There are the basic facts. Anyone with half a brain can see the doubling in all main revenues streams since 2006, with payroll last season at about a 45% increase while next season being lower……so if you believe a 17mil reduction from 75 to 58 is the lone cause for all of Cranny’s postings concerning BDW insolvency……..![]()
The National Contract has tripled, local TV has doubled, Ticket/concessions have more than doubled since stadium financing originated….and Cranny wants all to believe that BDW can’t make his debt service payments….while payroll inline with the % increase in all main revenues streams
A 96mil payroll in 2006 should have no problem being a 180mil payroll in 2025.

Re: Why is DeWitt so cash-strapped?
Either Cranny is a BDW insider, which I seriously doubt (people that wealthy would never spend the time he does on this forum arguing about so many mundane things), or he just loves the attention he gets on this forum. Arguing as he does about the need for cash flow/profit when he can’t possibly know what makes Bill and his partners click is silly. It’s all based on his personal view of the world and investing. He loves money too much to own a sports franchise and certainly he puts a price tag on being a civic booster. Everything is about profit to him and nothing is about boosting the mood and image of the city that gave him the obscenely large bank account is important to him. Sad.
Re: Why is DeWitt so cash-strapped?
Red - The Cardinals had high hopes for Chase Davis when they drafted him out of the U. of Arizona in the 1st round in 2023. Unfortunately he's struggled somewhat and hasn't quite lived up to his potential. He was at Springfield all season this year and slashed .242/.358/.353/.711. In 494 PAs he had 16 doubles, hit 10 home runs, and stole 9 bases. drafted out of high school in Massachusetts in 2021. He caught fire this season. Started out at Peoria and was promoted to Springfield after only 38 games. For the season he slashed .287/.384/.500/.884. In 499 plate appearances he had 23 doubles, 20 home runs, and stole 54 bases. His OPS was basically the same at Springfield as it was at Peoria. His OPS at Springfield was .883. Davis OPS was .711 at the same level. Davis is another left handed bat. Baez is a right handed bat.
For a big man, Baez has shown both power and speed. He's 6'3", 220 lbs. If he keeps developing, he could be the corner outfielder we've been looking for. I would probably rate him the #1 outfielder in the system right now - a power right handed bat that many posters have been clamoring for.
I fully know that minor league numbers aren't a 100% assurance that a player will excel at the ML level. At the same time,
I'd rather have a player tearing it up as he comes through the system than meh.
I also know that the majority of major league Cardinal players in the future will be players coming through our system.
I can track them. I can't (and won't) track the illusive multiple potential FA signings or possible trade targets.

Old people get paranoid about everything, especially loss. And if mental disorder is present, even more so.
It might take a death or sale to get additional funding.

I fall close into the socially isolated, as I live in a big house alone. Everyone is gone.
I get out daily, and do tidbits around the yard. Two cats.
I like to communicate and see and hear others perspective and so I start a thread for that purpose.
Of course, I’m not 80 yet.
Re: Why is DeWitt so cash-strapped?
I'm 80 and remain very active. What bothers me with some older people is they think they know everything just because they are old. Running a business in your 80's seems strange to me when it should be a time of relaxation, gardening, smelling the flowers and being thankful you are still around to enjoy it. It may be time for new leadership with the Cardinals and a new understanding of life with some that post here.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 06:51 amWLTFE wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 06:41 amGood points.. people in their 80s often become set in their ways and don't like change...and become petty and will argue with anyone who has a different opinion...I think some become socially isolated and seek out attention...it's very sad to watchsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 06:28 am Old people get paranoid about everything, especially loss.
