Re: Edman
He was traded to LA on July 29, 2024. He did not play a game with the Dodgers until August 19.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 09:49 amIs he? In 2024, he wasn't playing full games in his rehab assignment for a reported injury. As soon as he's traded to LA, he's healthy enough to finish the season strong. That seemed very fishy to me.
Re: Edman
So do I. He has an ankle injury which may require surgery during the winter. This fact led Roberts to replace him with Pages in that 9th inning. One of the best moves Roberts made during the series.
Re: Edman
You could throw any bench player we have on that stacked team....and they are where they have been....competing for a championship. It has nothing to do with his mindset. it has to do he's surrounded by Ohtani, Freeman, Betts, Yamamoto, Glasnow, Sasaki, Hernandez, Snell, etc on and on.RichieRichSTL wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 02:03 am Say what you will but he has the champion mindset. Mo utterly wasted the asset we got in return for him. They weren't going to compete in 2025, so why risk getting nothing for Fedde? They could sign a scrub to eat innings, but Fedde still had value.
Re: Edman
Edman hit .248 his last year with the Cardinals at age 28 . Donovan at age 28 hit .287
The past two years with LAD , Edman hit .237 and .225
Of course the value of Donovan will net Bloom a much better return . Not a good comparison to compare a Bloom return for Donovan to a Mo return for Edman .

Yes and no. Obviously you have to have the talent, butAdam2 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2025 17:20 pmYou could throw any bench player we have on that stacked team....and they are where they have been....competing for a championship. 1) Hughly talented teams can and do choke because of team dynamics.
2) Talented teams get and need contributions from unsung heroes
3) Players like Edman are gamers. Everyone knows they arent the most talented, but they squeeze the most out of their talent and they help contribute to a positive/championship atmosphere with their hustle and attitude. In other words, they help set a tone. He does is also very flexible.
Does anyone think they craved and paid him as he was going to power them to a title. No, it was because they felt he compliments their team and vision well. Whitey didnt have the best players, but he had the players who were gamers and fit his vision well.
Untrue about any bench players. The wrong player can be a drag on a team, even a good team.
With a Rojas', Kleins and Edmans, pitching in, this team loses to the Blue Jays
I do understand by themselves they aren't enough and on a team without enough elite talent they arent the difference. But there is a reason the Dodgers sought him for few years.
Re: Edman
Losing Edman is not a loss. He is not a difference maker.RichieRichSTL wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 02:03 am Say what you will but he has the champion mindset. Re: Edman
Edman, similar to Donovan even Noot, is a luxury piece best suited for October bc of their intangibles. These are the few guys Mo has developed who TLR would actually find a role for.
Re: Edman
Why are we even talking about Edman's mindset? That is completely irrelevant to the Dodgers. They are the most expensive team of all stars that has ever been assembled. Uncharted territory. Which is why the rules need to change.RichieRichSTL wrote: ↑05 Nov 2025 18:01 pmYes and no. I could play for the Dodgers in Edman's spot and they would have still made the World Series.

Stupid contract the Dodgers gave Edman but money is meaningless to them.lordoffatness wrote: ↑06 Nov 2025 07:52 amOr basically what Gorman did this year.rockondlouie wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 08:53 am^^^THIS^^^
