He's going to cast the Donny line out there and see who bites and what they're offering.
If it's what he's seeking, then I'd bet Donny is gone.
If he's not happy, then he keeps Donny till midseason and moves on to the next guy he'd likely to move and that's Noot.
Tend to agree.. the return for Donovan is a key.. if multiple teams want him, that would increase the return value.
Do agree with your fishing scenario .. always be open to listen to other teams.
Has to be at least a #3 major league starter under age 30 w/at least two years of control.
Bloom may have to add one of the catchers to seal the deal.
I don't think that package lands the corner OF'er we need but Bloom has pulled off some steals (Re: TGKS) before so he might do it again!
Other than I. Herrera, JJW and Doyle he has to be open (IMO) to offers for everyone else in the organization.
This roster needs a major overhaul, only those I listed should be "off limits".
Since Bloom is looking at the lnng term, I would add two more youngsters to your list . They would be 18 yr old C Raniel Rodriguez ( 3rd ranked prospect projected MLB ready in 2028 ) and 18 year old 10th ranked and MLB ready for 2029 OF Ryan Mitchell (last year's 2nd round pick ..this team needs potential OF for the future ) . Those two are both 18 years old and already ranked in our Top 10 so if I am Bloom , I am not making either of those two available currently.
I can see that and you're right, he won't move either of them.
But at 18 yrs old we have to see how they do as they climb the ladder before I put the "off limits" tag on them.
Yes, and I would think that 2 years from now at age 20 , Bloom will have a pretty good take on their major league potential. Is there arrow ascending ? So they are 'off limits' til that time IMO . Cerfolio will be a major evaluator as he is head of player development.
If he keeps developing, then we could see R.R. behind the plate here by the time he's 21 yrs old (one good thing about C. Bloom, he doesn't rush prospects like the former POBO did)!
Before then we should see L. Bernal added to J. Crooks sometime in 2027 and one could become trade bait as soon as R.R. is ready.
(And I agree on R. Cerfolio, another great hire by Bloom and possibly his GM pick by 2027?)
Right on and fans must always keep in mind that Bloom has a 5-year gig thru 2030. So he can build the team to his liking for the long haul and Cerfolio should be part of that long term ride too (unless he gets another higher opportunity in 2 or 3 years ) .
100%
We've already got a couple of a z z wipes in here taking (un-fair) swipes at the man before he's even had time to change the name on the POBO door.
I wonder if Bloom keeps both title (POBO/GM) for 2026, keeping Cerfolio down below where he's needed and then promotes him to GM in 2027?

I would keep Winn. He is one of the top few defensive SS in baseball and will only improve. If he can hit .250 that is fine. He saves runs and steals outs with his glove and that arm. JJ is probably a decent SS, but I seriously doubt he can play it like Winn. The key is the build a lineup that is good enough that Winn bats 8 or 9. If he grows as a hitter, then he moves up. Ozzie couldn't hit his weight at first and he learned. Winn is already ahead of Ozzie at the plate. Keep Winn..... My 2 cents.
And he most likely will.
But I would NOT make him off limits if some team comes a calling and the offer is what Bloom wants (under age 25 starting pitcher w/upside and many years of control would be my ask).
Not many in MLB can match Winn's glovework but he's got to get on base at a .330 clip w/an upper .700 OPS to become that all-round player you ink to a LT deal.
And agree, he belongs in the bottom third of the lineup and nowhere near the top until he shows he can get on base.

Donovan's value could increase by trade deadline '26, if he puts up his best stats ever in the first half.
IF Bloom cannot get the kind of return by trading him this offseason that rocko has proposed, I think he should remain in St. Louis.
Yes, that is always a tricky call for if he hits well in 1st half , another team may look even more favorably on Donovan but with that increase in value also comes with the fact the interested team now has him for the last 2 months of 2026 and then 1 more year in 2027 rather than 2 full seasons if acquired this offseason.
A team will absolutely pay more for him now. It’s very doubtful if he gets off to a hot start they pay more for him He’s a pretty consistent player he’s going to hit 10-15
Home runs he’s going to drive in 50-70 runs score 50-70 runs hit for a solid average solid OBP solid OPS they aren’t going to pay a lot more thinking he’s suddenly become a new level of player unless they are complete idiots. Bloom probably has a set value on Donovan if a team meets it he’s gone if they don’t he stays

I disagree. A team that is in contention at the deadline, and needs a better player to play 2B or fill in for an injured player, might pay more for a red hot Donovan to help them in their quest for the playoffs.

Donovan's value will likely never be higher. Bloom would be wise to see what kind of return he could get. The good thing is JJ would then be put in place at 2B with the middle IF being set for seasons to come. If anyone should be extended it's Winn. If Nado is traded, does that mean the position is Gorman's to lose? Saggese would be in place as the back-up IF but he would also compete for a starting spot.

Very doubtful also there will be other teams looking to trade players also at the deadline. That’s why it was obviously Better to trade helsley in the offseason he was coming off a great season had a full year of control left and in the offseason very few teams are willing to trade closers and good relievers instead they were dumb waited until the deadline helsley had a down year and at the deadline there were several closers and a lot of good relievers on the market lowering his value. Wait on Donovan until the deadline he could be injured or have a slow start the team trading for him will use less team control to lower his value and there will be other infielders on the market to further lower his value. Mo was always dumb waiting until the deadline to trade players when their value was lower hopefully bloom isn’t dumb
Less for

It means we don't have a third baseman
yep, almost wonder what is the point of unloading Nado if you have to cover most of the contract. Gorman is what he is, and Saggese if likely a backup utility guy. So what great prospect gets the playing time? There is not one.

My option has been and remains to trade Donovan and Gorman, keep Arenado since you’ll be paying most of his salary even if they move him.
Play Arenado thru end of ‘27, by then a 3B may be here, or go and get one.
But trading Arenado and Donovan just to give the 3B job to Gorman is idiocy.
