Re: Walker working out at Driveline
Did you see Noots stats this last season…….it worked wonders for him

Re: Walker working out at Driveline
Glad to see more of a backload in his stance, short toe tap, not a long stride.
HItters his size have to hit this way, all backload, with little to no forward movement.
Judge hits this way, McGwire hit this way, it's the only way for a man that size to hit.
Easy. Obvious. Correct.
Carrying it over when facing live bullets is the litmus test.

Doesn’t matter what kind of swing he has if he chases a couple of sliders a foot outside calls time out steps out then steps back in and takes a fastball down the middle for strike threehmoss859 wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 19:34 pm Glad to see more of a backload in his stance, short toe tap, not a long stride.

Let's hope this isn't the equivalent of the Nootbaar video from a few years back.
The swing looks much shorter, so there is hope that this might be real.

While watching that video, I found it interesting how deliberately JW is turning his feet and ankles toward the pitcher at the moment of impact. It almost looks like someone is telling him to concentrate on that motion.billybaseball wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 15:06 pm I know people want to roll your eyes when these pop up but this is very notable. People should not discount Driveline. The Dodgers and Red Sox both use them as their offseason training. The Dodgers especially use them almost exclusively for their teams offseason training. Ohtani, Betts and Muncy go every offseason.

This is excellent news and good to see him there so early in the offseason. There is no doubt that this is driven by Bloom and the new player development engine. It's been my understanding that Mozeliak didn't really compel any players to hit these labs in prior off-seasons and training was largely unstructured.
Walker was given a specific homework assignment and he's getting to work. Hope it works wonders!

Re: Walker working out at Driveline
If MLB teams, some of the most wealthy entities in sport, can’t provide the teaching, tech, and mentoring of their million dollar investments inhouse.
Then all of the minor leagues should be outsourced to these specialized consultants. If Walker actually becomes a hitter after this outside help after wasting years of seasons and offseasons of NO improvement this invalidates the entire MLB development system

Besides Driveline Walker may benefit from a sports psychologist working with him. Improve his concentration, relaxation, and positive thinking skills. Yes, the mental side of the gamebillybaseball wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 15:42 pmThose issues were mental. I hope he's working on the mental side of baseball this offseason tooOzziesfan41 wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 15:37 pm Hopefully it can teach him not to swing at bad pitches and not to just take good pitches down the middle. You have a weird obsession with Nootbaar. Do you blame Driveline for his injuries?Goldfan wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 21:58 pmDid Noot get a refund? An Old Friend wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 21:51 pm This is excellent news and good to see him there so early in the offseason. His OPS+ has dropped every year to where he's now at 95. Just like his WAR...down from 3.3 to a measly 1.3!An Old Friend wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 22:12 pmYou have a weird obsession with Nootbaar. Good to see Jordan is putting in some work this offseason. Hopefully it pays dividends and he has a good year.

"Real adjustments have to be made, physically and approach-wise, for him to have success,” Marmol said. “At the end of the day, all you can do is — with conviction — show the player what needs to take place, and then it’s up to the player to take hold of that and allow it to transfer into the game.”
“At some point in time he’s going to have to devote more focus on preparation,” Brown said. “One thing with (Walker) is we’ve played a massive game of tennis, going back and forth with what he feels like he needs to do versus what he really needs to do. … But for me, there’s a really easy way out. He might have to be a little bit more uncomfortable to be able to achieve what we wanted to achieve.”
Walker won’t push back against that notion
