An epically bad idea.
The last thing STL needs is a retread who embodies the organization's TOXIC CULTURE over the past half decade.
Bloom made an incredibly stupid decision to retain The Marmot.
This would be ever worse.
If true, STRIKE 2.

There is a very real leadership issue here- let’s not forget the four horsemen brought in for leadership- Crawford Carpenter Lynn and Gibson. Before that Pujols and Molina.

After pondering this I remember we were led down this path last year. Yadi was going to be a big time consultant only to find out he would make a couple of appearances in the dugout to increase attendance.

I’m against this idea 100%. If Oli is fired then consider Molina although I am wondering if there will be better options.

Here come the "Toxic" insults. A first ballot HOF player whom LaRussa described as a co-manager is toxic. Pujols is toxic. I suppose Musial was also.

Why?
Molina's record with helping young catchers is abysmal.
Correct, as an active playing catcher, he wasn't in tune with helping out the young prospect coming for his job. I'm sure his approach as a coach would be different.

I suspect our reasoning has much in common, beyond the over-arching toxic retread theme mentioned above.
I have said for years that Molina is not and never will be managerial material.
If ever given the role by a team, he will quickly prove to be a Ted Williams type of manager.
Williams never could develop young players because his own pedigree got in the way - and I have long seen the same in Molina who repeatedly torpedoed young catchers in the STL system.
Further, Molina has a history of dividing the clubhouse along racial lines.
Finally, the friction between The Marmot and Molina would be immediate and very real.
Stupid, stupid, stupid idea in every possible way.

Do I think the culture was and has been toxic over the past 7-10 years? Yes. But I don't think Yadi had anything to do with that.

Nope.
Past is prologue.
It goes well beyond Molina's insecurity in intentionally undermining young threats.
He has a well-established history of putting self above team.
Great player.
TOXIC person.

^^^THIS^^^

Would be the ONLY reason Yadi would consider caddying for a Manager w/a much lower baseball IQ than Yadi.

No way he takes this job w/o some assurances from C. Bloom that he's at least a very serious candidate to replace Oli in 2027.

Plus he'd be there daily to work w/I. Hererra.

I'll believe it when it happens.

JMO
Well Yadier could be looking at it this way too. I don't need any assurance as it's a win-win for me. Either after 2026, I get the Cardinals managerial job OR if Oli remains I will get manager job offers from others as now I have a full year as coach in the MLB . I can't lose either scenario.
My opinion this is what is happening. It’s a win win for scenario for Molina but probably lose lose for oli if the cardinals surprise people and are better than expected Molina will get credit for it and if they suck again oli will get the blame

two points

there is already a hot controversy about the skills and talent of the current manager....

so....they bring in a guy...who is already popular with some....to look over his shoulder......talk about tossing some gas on the fire

the other day the question on the board was whether bloom would be effective....

I made the point that my question was whether he had autonomy on all baseball decisions.......or would he still be subject to the whims of the marketing and ticket office

well....here is the answer.....this has ticket office written all over it

Could be. This could be a big help. Molina understands the game. Perhaps after a year he gets the job and Marmol gets a job elsewhere in the organization.

What happens when they disagree? In game, spring training , roster, etc.

So let’s leave it alone; cause we can’t see eye to eye. There ain’t no good guys; there ain’t no bad guys; there’s just you and me, and we just disagree.

What I see.

Your reference to the lyrics of ‘We just Disagree. somg brought a smile to my face, Sikeston Bulldog! That song was written by Jim Krueger, a guitarist in Dave Mason band. Jim Krueger went to my HS and graduated in 1967 one year after I did..Lincoln HS Manitowoc Wis. Thanks for the mention ! Great song! Jim nailed that one fir Dave Mason

Why waste another year? Marmol’s baseball iq is marginal and his leadership is non-existent. I don’t care if he is friends either several of the key players

Change the manager, already; get the team back on track

You’re the same guy who claimed McGee being named the bench coach was all about ticket sales.

Your assertions are weak.
