West looks rough. Blues are going to need a Lucic type early on potentially

Re: Kings - Avs
this game looks like a couple of idiots humping a football. the west IS rough. Has always been. thats the differentiating factor between the two leagues and why the west for the most part for the last 10 years has been the superior conference. Also, why Florida is so dominant right now. They took the west template and just body everyone.

Def wish we had Looch on Thursday
Foligno. Middleton. Trenin
Wild are one of those handful of teams that bullies us around every year

Re: Kings - Avs
Lucic would beat the (bleep) out of Foligno buddy, that is how it works
Re: Kings - Avs
That Malott dude was a loose cannon
Re: Kings - Avs
No its not, if it were Lucic wouldn't be unsigned. Games are 60 minutes long and Lucic is good for about 4. If you want toughness to matter it is a team concept and the players actually on the ice playing hockey have to be tough.
Re: Kings - Avs
You are straw manning my original point into something about not understanding how team toughness works. Are you seriously arguing that adding a guy like Lucic (or similar Heavy) doesn’t add to your team toughness significantly? Let’s see Foligno take a run at 50 with him in the lineup. The Sens just traded for MacDermid so they wouldn’t get bullied by teams like the Habs.skilles wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 01:12 amNo its not, if it were Lucic wouldn't be unsigned. Armstrong made the same points to the press as to why they signed him to a tryout. He’s still in the mix hope they find a place for him, for nights like Thursday against the Wild
Re: Kings - Avs
Yes I am absolutely seriously arguing that, I think other teams would love for us to put Lucic on the ice and I think Foligno would love for him to take retaliatory penalties.taynos wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 02:48 amYou are straw manning my original point into something about not understanding how team toughness works. Adding guys that are not good at hockey does not make your team better. I love the toughness aspect but you have to be able to play good hockey.
I don't think I would model my strategy off the Ottawa Senators.
Not to be confused I'm all for adding guys that are mean and tough but its got to be guys that can play hockey.....nobody is afraid you might put a player on the ice that is a hockey liability.
Re: Kings - Avs
Well, maybe Mailloux will take an opportunity to not only show his skating, shooting skills and overall play, but also respond combatively to really ingratiate himself with the fans.skilles wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 07:31 amYes I am absolutely seriously arguing that, I think other teams would love for us to put Lucic on the ice and I think Foligno would love for him to take retaliatory penalties.taynos wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 02:48 amYou are straw manning my original point into something about not understanding how team toughness works. I think he probably will, hopefully he can defend well enough to get enough ice to do the things he is good at.Old_Goat wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 07:42 amWell, maybe Mailloux will take an opportunity to not only show his skating, shooting skills and overall play, but also respond combatively to really ingratiate himself with the fans.skilles wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 07:31 amYes I am absolutely seriously arguing that, I think other teams would love for us to put Lucic on the ice and I think Foligno would love for him to take retaliatory penalties.taynos wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 02:48 amYou are straw manning my original point into something about not understanding how team toughness works. This is a game not having Sunny really hurts in my view. He has a big presence on the ice he was moving pretty well for a Sunny too bad. But as others said, great night for Mailloux to assert himself in the Central Division.taynos wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 02:48 amYou are straw manning my original point into something about not understanding how team toughness works. Looch is Maroon 6 years later. funny how Pattie won 3 cups in a row. why because your "skill" players skate with a little more authority because they know if someone F's with them they know Looch will have their back. Just as Pattie did, or Twister and Chase had Hullies back, or McSorley had Gretz back. if your too young to understand that then just look at how they abused Binner a few years ago because they were soft especially at D. The Blues have built a heavy 3rd line when Sunny gets back to be what the 4th line was last year. leaving a 4th line to just spot stir up the pot and give 1-3 a extra breather once or twice a period.skilles wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 07:31 amYes I am absolutely seriously arguing that, I think other teams would love for us to put Lucic on the ice and I think Foligno would love for him to take retaliatory penalties.taynos wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 02:48 amYou are straw manning my original point into something about not understanding how team toughness works. Schenn, Neighbours, Torop, Walker, Tucker, Mailloux, Holloway, Joseph all need to finish every hit. The 4th line last year had two guys with more than 200+ Hits its up to the guys on the opening night roster to take care of business. Blues didnt have Lucic last year vs the Jets and the Blues pounded them into sand. Im also looking at Parayko he seemed to be throwing his weight around a little in the pre season game i watched for 6' 6" 230 hes too passive at times. Dont need him to be head hunting by any means but when the hit is there, take it.
Re: Kings - Avs
All I can say is I'm thankful that the puny defensemen are finally gone. Watching Krug and Perunovich get knocked off the puck in their own zone all the time got tiresome.
