It’s too bad because Sunny didn’t miss any time last season when he came back and I’m sure he was feeling good with a healthy summer. I liked the idea of him as a 4C, Sunny is smart and gives you everything.

And he still might be the 4C! We still don’t know the severity of the injury.

Not sure they’re even practicing today? If not, we might not get an update until tomorrow.

The Blues staff/players parking lot was empty when I went by this morning at the usual time. I'll try again tomorrow.

This is just part of the strategy to keep him fresh for the playoffs...

We don't need to do that, but if Sunny's $1.5M on the LTIR helps us gain a solid player who will contribute, then alright.

Honestly, I'm more worried about replacing Sunny's contributions. Both to the team's winning efforts and my own personal satisfaction.

Like if Sunny's out, at least give me a Lucic. Can Peterson step in and be that type of guy for us? Is he a RW now? Or a Center?

Bjugstad is not the type of player I want to see playing with the rest of our bottom-6 players, whether that's Schenn, Neighbours, or Toro/Walker/Joseph. Perhaps he can change my mind on that, but while he's a smart veteran player, he is very mild and reminds me too much of a RH Hayes. With a guy like that on our team, I'm getting top-10 pick vibes. If Sunny's out, let's just tank for another Stenberg
You want to trade one broken down player (Sunny) for another (Lucic)?? These aren’t the players of 5 years ago. We don’t need either one.
There's not a single player in our organization who can provide what Sunny provides who's not already in the lineup. Bjugstad isn't it. Some on this board even noted that Sunny looks healthy and was skating well. He looked good at the end of last season and in the playoffs. 2pts in 7 games and +1 @ 15min a night, when adjusted for games played isn't too far off from his 2019 playoff performance. Is he the same player? No, but he's still a solid vet.

Lucic was brought in for a reason, and that reason is we don't have a forward in our organization that can provide what he provides (or potentially provides). I could agree that he isn't going to be able to come back after 2 years and actually be that player, which is why I asked...can Peterson step in and be that type of guy for us?

Can I get anyone who is a solid contributor or at least entertaining to watch with heavy hitting and fighting? Is Reaves still around?

One of my favorite Sundqvist moments: After a huge win against Nashville and going to the locker room, Sunny passes the camera and hollers, "Suck a d!ck, Johansen!"

A comment and timing for the ages!

Yep it looked pretty bad for Sunny not being able to put weight on his skate, again. This would ding the Blues line up for sure. Monty and Army want to play a heavy game, be good in their own end, be good at 5 v 6, PK. These are all areas Sunny is good, another tough blow to Sunny, feel really bad for him hes true Blue

We shall see how it all shakes out.
I think Lucic was brought in more as a favor to him than any organizational need

Updates from Army’s presser:
Oskar Sundqvist sustained a lower-body injury in a recent practice and is considered week-to-week. GM Doug Armstrong said he doesn’t believe it’s serious. #stlblues
Doug Armstrong said literally a week, they don't see this as a long-term thing. He has been ruled out for the next three games. #stlblues

Good news!

I’m sure anytime he bumps his knee he gets anxious or thinks he’s injured. Now that I think of it, Sunny has always been the king of leaving the game or limping off the ice…only to come back the next period for his entire career. He can be a bit dramatic lol!
