It seems like they just had a camp where they decided that right now Joseph is better on that 3rd line than the prospects. But if Joseph doesn't prove he deserves to be there, then I think Stenberg is the young guy that gets the first crack at that spot. I can't see them calling Stenberg up to be a healthy scratch though.

Not a healthy scratch (no way). A 2025 Robert Thomas-esque additon by subtraction. But at center.

At center? Instead of Suter, Schenn, or 4th line Bjugstad?

Just first man up if one of those gets hurt.

They can't go on the road without a fifth center in case of the top 4 centers get hurt during warmup. They could have Tex or Joseph suit up as a center in an emergency, but that is far from ideal.
Walker has played C some, and could fill in for your scenario above
This is true, forgot about that.
Walker played C in at least one of the early practice games and he was horrible on faceoffs. Leave him on wing, find a real center.

He'll be fine.

This is just part of the strategy to keep him fresh for the playoffs...

We don't need to do that, but if Sunny's $1.5M on the LTIR helps us gain a solid player who will contribute, then alright.

Honestly, I'm more worried about replacing Sunny's contributions. Both to the team's winning efforts and my own personal satisfaction.

Like if Sunny's out, at least give me a Lucic. Can Peterson step in and be that type of guy for us? Is he a RW now? Or a Center?

Bjugstad is not the type of player I want to see playing with the rest of our bottom-6 players, whether that's Schenn, Neighbours, or Toro/Walker/Joseph. Perhaps he can change my mind on that, but while he's a smart veteran player, he is very mild and reminds me too much of a RH Hayes. With a guy like that on our team, I'm getting top-10 pick vibes. If Sunny's out, let's just tank for another Stenberg

That loophole has been closed. Playoff rosters now have to be under the Cap.*

*just the 20-man playoff roster for each playoff game, not the entire 23+ man roster like in the regular season so there still is some wiggle room.

I'm leaning in with you on this. I have limited observation of Stenberg, but from what I have read from others on this forum, Stenberg plays somewhat aggressively with a bit of an edge and more well-rounded defensively than other youngsters at this point. I get that he is not a Center, but there is something missing in the "intangible" factor with Texier. Put Stenberg on the wing with Schenn and Neighbours?
Am I missing something that Bjugstad could not be effective as the 4th checking line Center?...with his size, and reach it seems like he could disrupt the opponents passing lanes.
Let Joseph & Texier float in & out of lineup as needed, until they figure out whom to promote, or to pickup from somewhere else.

You want to trade one broken down player (Sunny) for another (Lucic)?? These aren’t the players of 5 years ago. We don’t need either one.
