Kaprizov hasn't proven a (bleep) thing in the real hockey season. He wants to be rewarded before he does anything. The mark of a player we don't even need to worry about. Minnesota doing this to themselves after Parise and Suter, I don't even feel sorry for them

Was just on the island. Pretty epic. Thought about ya. I know it’s different but the west coast is just so cool. I miss it.seattleblue wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 11:58 am Kaprizov hasn't proven a (drat) thing in the real hockey season. He wants to be rewarded before he does anything. Re: Wild extend KK 8x17
The pic of him and Guerin the Wild tweeted out to announce the signing really drove home thr point. KK barely came up to Guerin's chin, and he has such a child-like face to begin with.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 10:04 amThey were between a rock and a hard place as they’re absolutely nothing special without him. They better hope this oft injured 5’10” winger magically grows more durable…
I get the talent. I dont see him surviving multiple playoff rounds.

This explains why Army doesn't want a TOP5 pick.
And it does no good to think that 3 Kyrous are preferred, etc. Hockey players are like wives. Why ponder if better to have 1 trophy wife, or 3 average ones, when there is only room for 1 in the house.
I believe that this salary escalation ends will end the sport of hockey. Who can afford the tickets. The fans in every town other than the Torontos, LAs, and NYs are big losers.

This is probably the easiest of your ridiculous analogies to knock down. In the NHL, each team needs at least 23 “wives”, not 1.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 12:10 pm This explains why Army doesn't want a TOP5 pick.

You also show an absolute misunderstanding of how the Cap, CBA and Revenue Sharing work. The Cap only goes up when revenue goes up by the same %. They’re tied to the hip. Owners and players split revenue 50/50. Prices will go up but only if people continue to pay it. This has 50/50 cost certainty has been built into the CBA for 13 years now and will be a part of the next CBA as well. This isn’t new.

Kaprizov was drafted in the 5th round. Genuinely, what on earth are you trying to say here?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 12:10 pm This explains why Army doesn't want a TOP5 pick.

OHHHHHHH ... you build a team by getting picks in the top 5 ROUNDS of the draft, now this all makes more sense.
Yes absolutely! Gotta have picks in the top five rounds, only a loser GM would not know that? Also, trophy wives lol

Man.
I guess the only alternative would be to let him go and start a re-tool
. With players like Faber, Boldy, and Buium. I almost think that would've been the better option.

State income tax is only one slice of the pie. What's more, the entire tax code is as complicated as there are tax lawyers finding ways to game it.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 11:35 amYep. And you’re right about the no state income tax and big market marketing advantages other franchises would have over the Wild as well. Kirill took the Wild to the cleaners because he knew they were desperate and he could make absolute bank elsewhere as well. He might have had to take a bit lower AAV elsewhere but he would’ve made it up in lower taxes and/or more marketing opportunities.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 11:28 amooff forgot about the NMC so he would have dictated the entire thing and if he would have entertained a trade would have given them a list of maybe 3 teams and the offers would have been nothing.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 11:23 amThey had no choice in the sense that they couldn’t let him walk as a UFA. And he had a full NMC on his current deal so they couldn’t even count on trading him for futures either. They don’t have much without him. In short, their previous moves gave Kirill all the leverage in this negotiation and he absolutely went for max $. No discount given.
well kudos to him, and that's why you don't give players all the power.

Re: Wild extend KK 8x17
The Wild should have traded KK for a king's ransom and kicked off the rebuild with a major tank job (btw, this is when you tank, not when the team is ascending). They have a young core with Boldy/Rossi/Faber/Buium, and they do have some talent with their prospects, but with an average age of 30.5, they are one of the oldest teams in the NHL, and outside Buium, I see the same team as last year, but a year older, and this team can't get past the 1st round. With McKenna projected 1st overall, and the bounty from trading KK and other aging players, the opportunity was there, but the Wild chose the present over their future, and that's great news for the Note!
The whining has already started on the radio here (we just got rid of Suter/Parise contracts).
