The problem in Anaheim was Anaheim, not Fowler.

Re: Fowler 3 year extension
A bit more than I was thinking it was going to take but maybe not with where the cap is now and where it’s going.
A little risky given the small sample size but he’s a talented player and the Blues system fits him to a T. As long as he can stave off Father Time a bit longer, this should work out well for the Blues.
Glad to have Cam here for 4 more years!

You’re probably not wrong, but, you aren’t signing him for 2 years. Any signing is a gamble. Anybody you sign can fall off quickly, 3 years is usually a good balance of risk/reward for someone his age. You have to admit he looked good in that sweater last year. I’m here for it.

Re: Fowler 3 year extension
A Blues reporter told me that the Blues offered 2 years and that offer sat on the table for months (since early summer). At least that was the rumor that he shared. Obviously, CF wanted 3 years.

Yeah now they need to sign Broberg long term. Cam can can move to 2LD toward the back end of this deal with Broberg taking over 1LD. Really looking forward to seeing how Mailloux develops this year and how he fits long term.

Not a fan of the term or av. I wouldn’t of went longer than 2 years and 5 million per, especially since one or more of the LHD’s should be ready before then, but like always, time will tell. Hope he wasnt his old self for half the year last year cause of pending free agency and now Father Time kicks in soon.

Re: Fowler 3 year extension
I don't think the Blues feel confident that they have a LHD in the pipeline who will be ready for top 4 in 2 - 3 years. You hope LIndstein gets there but he has hasn't had a season in north america yet. I thought he looked really confident against prospects, but not confident in this Blues camp.

Likely a year less than he would like!bluetunehead wrote: ↑27 Sep 2025 20:41 pm Glad he’s staying. Probably a year longer than I’d like but that’s alright. He has been terrific for us. Best LHD in that spot since Bouw.
Good signing!

I agree with Fowler/Broberg Blues are set at LD for awhile. Lindstein can take on Tucker in a year or so when hes readyb-a-a-a-rclay wrote: ↑28 Sep 2025 09:06 am I don't think the Blues feel confident that they have a LHD in the pipeline who will be ready for top 4 in 2 - 3 years. Im not even a huge Lindstein fan, I was thinkin more of Fischer, but their both possible Top 4’s without a spot for awhile with Fowler being here 4 more years. It’s ok not to love every single thing the Blues do, I can still be a fan.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑28 Sep 2025 09:20 amI agree with Fowler/Jo Broberg Blues are set at LD for awhile. Re: Fowler 3 year extension
If he's the 2nd or 3rd pair D by the end of this contract it still wont be bad. In 4 years 6m for a bottom pairing defenseman will only be a slight overpay. But if he's still a top pair then we have a top pair only making 12m combined. And think of how much room for development this gives our young d core.
Re: Fowler 3 year extension
According to the report above, a 2 year deal sat for months, so we can assume that's what the Blues really wanted. It's possible they wanted a 1 year deal but knew that wasn't on the table at all. The last year comes down to a 15-team NTC.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑28 Sep 2025 09:26 amIm not even a huge Lindstein fan, I was thinkin more of Fischer, but their both possible Top 4’s without a spot for awhile with Fowler being here 4 more years. There's the risk that Broberg doesn't sign here long-term, though I do see a deal getting done. Seems more like going with proven veterans into a push to win rather than saving spots for unproven prospects still at least a year away. The way it works out is you have a young player who could play top-4 on your bottom pairing on a smaller contract, like Vince Dunn before he left for Seattle. I agree though, the timeline seems about a year or two off for a couple LHD prospects.
