They could barely win with a passing game (but still no running game). I wasn't impressed with them against Auburn and not impressed with Auburn at all. We should handily beat both teams even with Mateer at the helm.

Not if you've watched their games. Mateer is a decent enough QB but not spectacular and OU has no run game. They're basically SC with a lesser QB and a little better defense. Auburn is about the same with an even lesser QB than OU but a little more run game and a little less defense. Auburn does have a major stud WR though so that could cause us problems.

It'll be interesting to see what Vegas thinks prior to each game.onemizzou wrote: ↑26 Sep 2025 10:45 amNot if you've watched their games. Based on the current Power Index and adding three points for HFA, Oklahoma would be -2.5 over Mizzou and Auburn would be Pick Em.JW wrote: ↑26 Sep 2025 11:08 amIt'll be interesting to see what Vegas thinks prior to each game.onemizzou wrote: ↑26 Sep 2025 10:45 amNot if you've watched their games. Well, they're not going to like the next three or four games without Mateer. They'll basically be the 2024 Sooners for those games (with a slightly lesser defense).JW wrote: ↑26 Sep 2025 11:08 amIt'll be interesting to see what Vegas thinks prior to each game.onemizzou wrote: ↑26 Sep 2025 10:45 amNot if you've watched their games. Interesting note on Mateer from CBS' Matt Zenitz:

"A John Mateer update:
The feeling is the surgery performed by Dr. Steven Shin went very well, sources tell
@cbssports.
It’s too early to tell how realistic this is but there seems to be at least an outside chance Mateer could be back as early as OU’s game vs. Texas Oct. 11."

Will see how he actually recovers. I can't imagine being ready in two weeks after surgery.JW wrote: ↑26 Sep 2025 18:48 pmInteresting note on Mateer from CBS' Matt Zenitz:
