One thing I learned this game is I have no idea what constitutes targeting

It has to hit with a certain part of the crown of the helmet (15 in diameter circle??) not just lead with the helmet.Lightning Rod wrote: ↑20 Sep 2025 21:42 pmSaw several today that were real close, none were called, ,seems it has to be flagrant.
Re: GDT: Chickens @ Tigers -- 6 -- ESPN
Running into the kicker (what was called) is very different than roughing the kicker (5 yd vs. 15 yd penalty).

Uh yeah I know.acco40 wrote: ↑20 Sep 2025 21:56 pmRunning into the kicker (what was called) is very different than roughing the kicker (5 yd vs. 15 yd penalty).
The point is the punter with his leg extended in the air is defenseless and thus dictates that a personal fouk be called just like a receiver.
If we're going to go overboard protecting players then what could be more defenseless than a kicker in that situation?

Thank God they went back to the run to win the game.
1st and goal there in the fourth and they had to settle for 3 should have been run down SC throats.
I know it's foreign but running is a good way to win football games! And I suggest they keep that option open against Alabama.

Actually that's exactly what Drinkwitz wants this team to be.dhsux wrote: ↑20 Sep 2025 22:05 pm Thank God they went back to the run to win the game.

Physical team that runs the ball and stops the run which is how you win in this conference.
The program has been trending that way since Drinkwitz got here.
Complementary football provides balance.
Not glamorous but it's tried and true.

I know he got into with Schrader....but I can't count the times they have gone to the air at critical times THIS YEAR all the while ignoring their successful run game duo.11WSChamps wrote: ↑20 Sep 2025 22:10 pmActually that's exactly what Drinkwitz wants this team to be.dhsux wrote: ↑20 Sep 2025 22:05 pm Thank God they went back to the run to win the game.

And keep in mind they have had 2 competitive games where these decisions "could have" been critical.
I'm not convinced as you that this is some big strategy being employed. I think the 2 great RB's might be the ones influencing what happens out there more than the OC. And the qb, who runs pretty well himself.

Just catching up on my recording here as I was called away and missed the start of the 2nd half. So I got way behind.
What a finish!
The run game and run D is amazing. The pass D not so good. And the passing offense not that great.
And the frosh kicker made a pressure 4th quarter FG that wasn't a gimme.
It's time to sharpen things up for Bama with a tuneup vs. UMass next week and then a bye.
Great to be 4-0!
Look at what the 10-63 Illini did! No. 9?
That Beatles song is ringing in my ears. Love it. Out of the rankings tomorrow.
MIZ!

Part of it is a want to be balanced otherwise the running game will eventually suffer.dhsux wrote: ↑20 Sep 2025 22:17 pmI know he got into with Schrader....but I can't count the times they have gone to the air at critical times THIS YEAR all the while ignoring their successful run game duo.11WSChamps wrote: ↑20 Sep 2025 22:10 pmActually that's exactly what Drinkwitz wants this team to be.dhsux wrote: ↑20 Sep 2025 22:05 pm Thank God they went back to the run to win the game.

I know it seems contradictory at times but I believe leaning into the be physical run game is the end product if the program is going to sustain itself in the SEC.
