well said
+2
At what point do you look at the coaching or are all these guys just stupid?
Maybe a combination of both???
To me, its coaching more than anything. Players can "brain fart". Every player is susceptible to a bad decision but this team does it nightly. It's ill preparation and bad coaching IMO.
Teams tend to mimic their leadership when it comes to judgement and fundamentals.
I can excuse the Manager to an extent as that he has a lot to analyze on the run.
But a base coach????
His SOLE purpose is to direct the baserunner by using JUDGEMENT.
If this team is a collective train wreck on the bases nightly what does that say about their JUDGEMENT?????
Well, they are supposed to listen to the coaches. They are the guidance. It's just toxic. Rebuild the minors and the coaches as well. ImO.
Look....I’m in no way excusing players for boneheaded baserunning judgement.
But....continuous awful judgement by the runners has to reflect on the coaches.
Agreed. This org needs some serious upgrading. Players and coaches...
115 runs below average right here. Just replace them all with an average player
-27 Walker - to AAA; replace with Church; much higher floor.
-24 Pallante - move to mopup, innings eating middle reliever; TRADE NOOTBAR AND GORMAN FOR A STARTING PITCHER
-13 Fernandez - add AAAA depth so he can stay in AAA
-12 Gorman - trade; replace with Wetherholt
-10 Fedde - already traded; replaced with McGreevy
-10 Mikolas - exit via FA; replace with Mathews
-10 Graceffo - to AAA; replaced by Pallante
-9 King - trade or nontender; replace with Raquet
-8 Roycroft
Trading Noot and Gorman will not bring back a quality starter. Nothing this team needs. We have enough 5's. Herrera, Donnie, Winn will bring back an upgrade. JJW as well. Nothing else on this team will be an upgrade.

Got that average up to .216! Give that man a big contract, it's hard to find singles hitters who are terrible in the field and can hit for an average like that.
Just yanking your chain 82, I know you like him.

I guess you read me wrong.
I don't like him currently despite those two hard-hit singles.
He is and has been a big underachiever.

It's sad that a professional baseball player needs base running coaching
...Most of the time they don't, but they need to trust the base coach on XBH's when on base, or trying to score.

If Fernandez can't finish out this game he needs to go down after the game

Need to finish 6-2 to achieve mediocrity. Who would not be proud of that?

I get credit for the five run inning. Came in from working up 150 pounds of smoked pork butts with my American Legion buds just in time for the lead to expand from 2-1 to 7-1. Had to rub my eyes to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. Hope they can build on that. Always more fun to win than to suck on a nightly basis.

As I thought , Brewers played a Thurs night game in Milw. and then flew to St. Louis after the game so had to get into St. Louis and at hotel in the early A.M. Their team played 'tired' tonight . Cards were well rested .

Loved that Sonny Gray won the game tonight . Brewer announcers were crowing that Gray had not won a game vs. Brewers since 2021 .
Hey , the previous Sat. Gray also allowed 1 run shutting the Brewers down in that game too. He left the game leading 6-1 Only reason he lost was that the bullpen coughed up that game big time.
Sonny got his revenge tonight.
