Did Ricky Horton just say what I thought he said about Burleson?

Re: Did Ricky Horton just say what I thought he said about Burleson?
Burleson is a good hitter, but...
He is a poor baserunner, a poor fielder in OF, and he is too much of a free swinger (walk rate too low).
He is a good 6th or 7th place hitter on a good team.
Not a 3 hole hitter.

Burleson is coming into his prime. 25 to 30 HRs, at some point for him, is not out of the question. That, with around 80 to 85 RBIs with about a .285 to .290 BA seem achievable for him. If achieved, that would be worthy of being an All Star.Youboughtit wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 17:26 pmSo 40 HR? Neither him or Hererra should be in the field. DH only. Both too slow for a team the must be built on speed and defense since they won’t pay for power and cannot develop it.

Certainly top 10. Currently 8th in BA and 19th in OPS. Fewer strikeouts than the 18 ahead of him in OPS.
Unfortunately he was 5th or lower in the batting order 151 at bats.

I’m making out my top 3 list and I’m not sure if Burly goes ahead or behind Ohtani. It’s so close.

Have you compared his actual production numbers in relation to PA’s? Aaron Miles hit .317 one yearOldRed wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 11:14 am Well, he is 8th in the NL.

No one knows what Horton meant by his statements I don’t think he meant burly will hit 40 home runs I think he was talking about top three hitters in batting average which I think he could probably do one day he’s 8th right now and in a couple of years someone will probably lead the league in batting with a .290+ batting averageYouboughtit wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 17:26 pmSo 40 HR? That player is great but not on this team. They need power at his only playable positions because of lack of slug everywhere else. 1B LF RF need 30-40 HR types and Hererra likely blocking DHOzziesfan41 wrote: ↑19 Sep 2025 08:01 amNo one knows what Horton meant by his statements I don’t think he meant burly will hit 40 home runs I think he was talking about top three hitters in batting average which I think he could probably do one day he’s 8th right now and in a couple of years someone will probably lead the league in batting with a .290+ batting averageYouboughtit wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 17:26 pmSo 40 HR? Spot on...rockondlouie wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 12:18 pmNope, not trending "upward".Shady wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 12:00 pmBurleson is putting together another productive season. And he's trending upward going into next season. As opposed to last season.OldRed wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 11:14 am Well, he is 8th in the NL.

1st Half
.293 .340 .466 .805
2nd Half
.273 .335 .455 .790
But much better than 2025 fall off.
His conditioning is terrible, needs to drop 25 lbs.

True it is. #3 in NL. This cannot be denied. Burly can hit. 293 is the new 330. He consistently puts the bat on the ball, sadly, that's a lost skill with the way pitchers can throw the ball today.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑22 Sep 2025 23:57 pm Burleson now 3rd in the NL in batting average was Horton looking into a crystal ball? lol

What's this about Burleson being a possibility for the Silver Slugger Award? I couldn't pull up the article. Somebody please fill me in.
