I'd like to see Lucic make the team. Not worried about the off ice issues. I think that he is in a good space now. We'll see if he can play anymore.
Yes. This team needs its Tom Wilson. Schenn can’t keep carrying that weight and our young kids need a sense of comfortability.

Unfortunately, the only player available to us that fits that mold is Lucic. So yes I hope he stills has the speed and ability to play minutes a few times a week. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t and that’s a missed opportunity for us.

As for his off ice issues, I don’t believe in cancelling someone. He deserves a second chance, but not a third.

If he’s one of the best 14 options at forward then yes, I’d want him on the team. If he’s not one of the 14 best and they force him onto the team anyway then no, I wouldn’t like it.

That said, I doubt that happens. I’m interested to see how he measures up. We could certainly use the toughness element he brings.

Would be pretty silly to have already made that decision IMO. What would a person base that opinion on?

Also it really makes not difference to me at all if he is here, I would only care how they used him vs others. It amazing me sometimes how caught up people get in guys that are just extra options.
I view it as a spot Skilles. And better suited elsewhere.

I'm sensing a good 'ol boy mentality here to put him on the roster.

That's just me.

If I'm wrong I'll be the first to admit it.
It kind of sounds like you are more concerned about coaching decisions

I went to Centene and caught one half hour of action. Here are a couple of things that I noticed. Kyrou looks a little heavier or bulkier. Holloway being back was a welcome sight. Carbonneau was pretty impressive speed wise and also shifty. Malloux can bring the heat with his shot and appears to be a really good skater. The prospect who stood out most to me was Stancl. He made a couple of good plays that impressed. I only got to watch group B and only for a half hour. The team looked fast and focused. I forgot to add that Tucker looked a lot slimmer.

For the next folks who get the pleasure of attending Camp, I have a request. Do either or both of Jpseph and Texier look like they are aware their roster spots are on the line?
If they were rookies and had the same size and skill sets, they might not quit right away when the whistle blows.
And so on.

I wouldn't bet against him. The variable that hasn't been talked about was the 22 months sober. That would indicate he had a drinking problem while he was playing. You have to think that it affected his playing. A couple of years of healing up and getting healthy we might get a highly motivated player. If he gets it he's earned it. You know the Blues don't want to block young players.

Orca Wiesblat was killed last weekend and Jake is a close friend of both Orca and Ozzy
oh my god yeah Jake literally learned sign language so he could not leave his best friend's deaf mom out of their conversations. this is really painful for him I am sure
Very sad. I saw the tweet from the Calgary Hitmen but didn’t make the connection with Neighbours until they mentioned that both of Orca’s parents were deaf.

This is where Jake’s sign-language skills become magical gifts for them as he and their child’s good friends and teammates pay their respects. I am sure he is a blessing to them right now.

Here’s an article on Neighbours and Ozzy Weisblatt from 5 years ago prior to the 2020 draft.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/17984 ... d_article
This local businessman, by all accounts, is a model citizen.

His name, a year ago, repeatedly pops up while a reporter is researching an inspirational story about the Wiesblatt family, five kids being raised by a single deaf mother in Calgary.

This is the recurring theme.

How the fellow is helping the Wiesblatts.

How he is a terrific influence on the four brothers.

Says one acquaintance: “He’s probably the best thing that could ever happen to the family. His mind is in the right spot. Takes care of the boys. Drives them to workouts. Takes them everywhere.”

Blurts another: “He has frickin’ been humongous … a huge saviour.”

Heartening stuff to hear. And it becomes glaringly obvious that this must be the next stop on the interview train. Tracking down this good soul, co-owner of a profitable car-detailing company, should be fairly easy.

Probably a big-hearted hockey dad. Some well-known pillar of the community.

As it turns out?

The hero is a 17-year-old boy named Jake Neighbours.

“I’m just super lucky to have a friend like him,” said Ozzy Wiesblatt. “I think our relationship will last a lifetime. It’s a pretty special thing.”

This is why I say he is untouchable on the roster. We are lucky to have this human being wear the Blue note and go to the net like he does. He should be the next captain
