The Marmot is terrible.
Period.
Whoever replaces him must have zero previous connection to the STL organization.
The WORST thing the team could do is make a stupid legacy marketing play involving the likes of Yad-I or Pujols.
Such a move would be toxic and would further damage the franchise for many years.
It would also be a mistake to turn to familiar organization retreads - Jay, Descalso, etc.
STL needs an experienced, respected, tough leader
My preferred candidates would include Ausmus, Mattingly, Gibbons, Bochy.
Possibly Weiss.
I do like Mattingly, he did well in an awful situation in Miami. What are your thoughts on Varitek?
Cards will be in a rebuilding situation. Bloom will need to choose the right manager for the rebuild. Will that be Donnie baseball,Varitek, Marmol, or someone else?

This is pure speculation on my part, but does Oli look like a Manager who is afraid of losing his job? He’s as loose as a goose, and enjoying every moment of this listless team. He either knows his job isn’t in jeopardy, or that there is already a plan in place where he is promoted to a cushy, profitable front office position. Vice president of something!
I do believe Yadi being in the dugout is no coincidence, at the very least it’s a marketing ploy to try and stir up some interest.
To me it’s just sickening, how low they’ve allowed this organization to sink. I attended games back in the 70’s and there was still excitement in the stands. People enjoyed watching the Cardinals play, even though they weren’t always very good!
At the game last night, the only excitement for fans was those who got to be or who were trying to be on the big jumbo screen.
A lot of dancing between innings just trying to be noticed. Good for them, I’m glad they had fun. For me, I was there for the game, and it was pretty awful! I saw Walker be even worse than he’s already been! Scott made a couple of nice catches, but was still swinging as hard as he could at every pitch! Same thing with Winn, and Gorman. Herrera too, he just happened to connect once.
I like Crooks, but the longer he’s with this bunch, I fear he’ll get to be just like them. Changes have to be made, the longer that the DeWitts wait the worse it’s going to get!
