Re: 2026 Manager
The fact of the matter is that if you keep Oli you keep the stench of the past 2 seasons that has seen massive drops in attendance.
You keep the stench of Mo and his philosophy and it also immediately gives us the impression that Bloom has no power that he will be nothing but a lackey for DeWitt.
Quite frankly if you are DeWitt, looking at out the stadium over this past month, wouldn't you want to wipe away as much of that stench as you possibly can?
Don't care how much the players like the manager, the fact of the matter is it's a results based business and over the last 3 seasons he is 222-240 for a .480 winning percentage.
You can tell me he hasn't been given much to work with, and I wouldn't necessarily disagree, but what has he done to improve what he does have? Essentially nothing.
The next manager for this team is going to be a huge hire and they can't go cheap again. It has to be a hire that can lead this team back to winning, it's as simple as that.
Plain and simple if Oli is back, expect announcements of attendance of 17,000 regularly.

If Bloom is forced to be married to Marmol by ownership - there will be no substantive change in anything and the fans will stay away.
You can’t bring Marmol back unless you are insane.

Part of a rebuild, is rebuilding the culture. And in my opinion, Oli is hugely responsible for the negative culture and wrong culture on the current Cardinals. He has to go. They cannot allow his toxicity to continue to permeate through the organizations young players.
So what are you doing in 2026? Do you take the chance on a first year manager? A Varitek or Yadi? Or do you bring in an established manager who has a track record? If so, who is that established manager? Maddon? Francona?
If Varitek were hired over Yadi, would Yadi be done with the Cardinals organization?
Manager: Albert Pujols
Pitching Coach: Yadier Molina
Bench Coach: Daniel Descalso
OF Coach: Jon Jay
1st Base Coach: Stubby Clapp
IF Coach/3rd Base Coach: Jose Oquendo
Bullpen Coach: Chris Carpenter
Hitting Coach: Matt Holliday
To answer your question about Yadi....yes, I think he'd be done with Cards if we hired another former C over him.
I’m sick and tired of all the pining for the past.
3 hires from within this organization have resulted in the current quagmire of listlessness.
This organization needs new blood and an experienced, respected manager.
I have said this for years and nothing yet has convinced me otherwise.

I don't disagree, but it isn't necessarily hiring within the organization/past that is bad, it is the specific people they have chosen that have been bad.Bomber1 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 18:43 pmAll JMO -Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 14:13 pmWhy not?Bomber1 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 13:39 pmI sincerely hope they do not follow your suggestion.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 09:45 amBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 am I do not agree with the notion that Oli should finish out his contract in 2026 and be the manager because it is a rebuild anyway, and he is there to work with the young players. So just saying nobody from the past, isn't really fair. It is WHO you bring in.
Comparing a Mike Shildt and Oli Marmol to a Pujols/Yadi is laughable.
I'm all for an experienced manager, but I do think the guys I listed would be respected and as knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the game as any experienced manager.
