They cannot allow his toxicity to continue to permeate through the organizations young players.
So what are you doing in 2026? Do you take the chance on a first year manager? A Varitek or Yadi? Or do you bring in an established manager who has a track record? If so, who is that established manager? Maddon? Francona?
If Varitek were hired over Yadi, would Yadi be done with the Cardinals organization?
Been saying it for 2 years.
No more hires from this failed system, no matter how many nostalgia tickets they may sell,

I sincerely hope they do not follow your suggestion.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 09:45 amBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 am I do not agree with the notion that Oli should finish out his contract in 2026 and be the manager because it is a rebuild anyway, and he is there to work with the young players. Manager: Albert Pujols
Pitching Coach: Yadier Molina
Bench Coach: Daniel Descalso
OF Coach: Jon Jay
1st Base Coach: Stubby Clapp
IF Coach/3rd Base Coach: Jose Oquendo
Bullpen Coach: Chris Carpenter
Hitting Coach: Matt Holliday
To answer your question about Yadi....yes, I think he'd be done with Cards if we hired another former C over him.

I’m sure players do love not having to be held accountable privately. I’m sure they do love someone smiling and laughing when down by 8. They also love structure, discipline, and accountability when administered fairly and properly.
That’s as much as I’ll post about this. I’m not going to get into a childish and frivolous discussion with the king of frivolous back and forths.

I’d suggest different roles with some of those names:Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 09:45 amBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 am I do not agree with the notion that Oli should finish out his contract in 2026 and be the manager because it is a rebuild anyway, and he is there to work with the young players. Manager: Matt Holiday - already making millions as Boras personal coach and gets high reviews. Already turned down the same role with us and other teams.
Pitching coach: Chris Carpenter - who wouldn’t listen to him? They better anyway
Hitting coach: Pujols (see Carp comment)
Bullpen coach: Yadi - exposure to RP’ers and catchers.

Re: 2026 Manager
This is the key. New guy in charge should hire his own people. The only exception is if the current staff was consistently winning. This staff consistently loses. Easy decision.

Re: 2026 Manager
They probably do. You have to wonder if anyone is held responsible. Terrible at bats, terrible base running. No one on this team knows what it takes to win. Throw the ball into left field, laugh. Put a player with no experience in left field, watch him struggle to make a catch, player smiling, coach smiling. Make lots of money, play terrible and nobody cares. Pretty good thing for the low talent athlete.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 10:16 amyup.. from all accounts the players love himBad14 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 10:09 amI don't want him back either but what proof do you have he's toxic?Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 am I do not agree with the notion that Oli should finish out his contract in 2026 and be the manager because it is a rebuild anyway, and he is there to work with the young players. How quickly after the season ends will they pick the new manager?
October or November?

Also, it was Bernie, I believe, who said Yadi doesnt get along with Mo. why would he? Yadi likes to win and is very competitive! Something Mo doesnt care about !
Re: 2026 Manager
I want an experienced manager. Francona, John Farrell. If we did hire another rookie, it needs to be a former (star level) player and not an organization minor league guy. Matheny actually won a pennant. Schildt and Oli did nothing.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 am I do not agree with the notion that Oli should finish out his contract in 2026 and be the manager because it is a rebuild anyway, and he is there to work with the young players. But definatly my first choice is someone who has won in the playoffs previously.
