Won't be a FA until 2027-2028. Not going to command big $$ in Arb at this point so no urgency in trading him at this point unless someone just makes an offer that you can't turn down. But that's not likely so he'll be here in 2026.

And that walk rate is exceptional.
Where do you play him? Has been an error machine and slow to get to ground balls.
He can improve.
He has played an outstanding 3B over the past week.
He's no N/A with the glove - but his arm has produced a couple of DP's that N/A would not have produced.
Gorman is plenty good enough to play 3B for many years.

I guess we are seeing the game differently. Putting Gorman at 3B doesn’t make him a 3B. He has been far from outstanding at 3B. His range is limited. His arm is erratic. He hasn’t turned anything that Arenado couldn’t have turned.

IF Gorman has a position on the Cardinals, it’s at 1B. I have been beating that drum for the last couple of years. IMO, it’s pretty obvious. He can stand at 2B but he has limited range. At 3B he doesn’t have the range or arm accuracy. I guess Gorman has never been asked to play 1B because of the misfit toy that Contreras is. Contreras’ value is as a decent hitting catcher. If he can’t catch he isn’t worth the 18 million he gets every year. We already have a decent hitter (Herrera) who struggles catching. If he can’t catch what is his true value. Not sure that it is as a corner outfielder. He might be a decent 1B option but we have a list there also.

Gorman could always DH but we have a boatload of guys to DH. Burleson is turning himself into a fair corner outfield option which actually is a benefit for the Cardinals. If I had to guess on an infield for next year then I would like to see
1B Gorman
2B Wetherholt
SS Winn
3B Donovan
An outfield of
LF that MOTO power bat
CF Church
RF Walker/Burleson
At catcher
Crooks/Herrera—let’s end the Pages/Pozo stuff. That would leave me a lineup of
Donovan
Wetherholt
MOTO bat
DH Contreras/Burleson
Herrera/Crooks-waiting on Bernal
Gorman
Walker
Church
Winn
Guys like Nootbaar, Arenado, Pages, Pozo have been moved on from.
The MOTO bat is essential, preferably a RH hitting corner outfielder. A MOTO bat and Wetherholt should improve our offense. This is the only real offensive addition. All other resources have to be spent on starting pitching. The bullpen has potential but a late spring addition of a Matonesque type bullpen arm would be nice.
