Re: McDaniel rates Cardinals farm system 9th
thanks, MattMitch!!!
started the year between 18-25 (depending on the publication), now we're 8-13. Improvement with draft, but more importantly, the Cards really did well to stack their mid tier rankings with the recent trade deadline. We got back a bunch of 40 grade to 45 grade prospects in those bullpen trades.

up and down with the starting pitching...but they have a while to develop. I like the Dohm kid from Miss. State...eventually he'll be an adequate 4-5 starter. Jesus Baez struggled first 2 1/2 weeks, no XBH...then rattled off 2 HR's last week. He's really raw. Blaze Jordan is a weaker Jordan Walker....loves to pound the ball into the ground, sometimes he gets ahold of one...sometimes. I'm not impressed with Blaze...at the moment.Red7 wrote: ↑26 Aug 2025 17:56 pmSpeaking of which, how are they doing?craviduce wrote: ↑26 Aug 2025 17:53 pm thanks, MattMitch!!!

How much weight do Wetherholt and Doyle alone carry? If the rank would be 15-20 without them then really nothing has changed.craviduce wrote: ↑26 Aug 2025 18:00 pmup and down with the starting pitching...but they have a while to develop. JJ and Quinn and Tink only got us in the 18-22 range...that was when both Quinn and Tink were highly rated. It was the lack 35-45 rated players...we were really really thin.Youboughtit wrote: ↑26 Aug 2025 18:04 pmHow much weight do Wetherholt and Doyle alone carry? First of all, thanks Crav. Guys like Crooks, Bernial, Church and Baez have progressed. As have a couple of pitchers. Quin Mathews still has weight.Youboughtit wrote: ↑26 Aug 2025 18:04 pmHow much weight do Wetherholt and Doyle alone carry? Re: McDaniel rates Cardinals farm system 9th
Nice to see the Cardinals moving higher in the farm system rankings.
Baseball America recently released their August updated rankings .
The Milwaukee Brewers , our divisional leading team, was ranked No. 1 farm system . So Bloom has his work cut out for him .
Go Cards !

Starting Point for Bloom's first offseason
CPages/Pozo Crooks/Pages
1B Contreras/Burleson
2BDonovan/Gorman Wetherholt
SS Winn/Saggese
3B Arenado
LFNootbar Donovan
CFScott Scott/Church
RFWalker Nootbar
DH Herrera
Trade Pozo, Gorman and replace with Crooks, Wetherholt
Send Walker to AAA and replace with Church
The OF is too lefthanded so why not trade LH Nootbar for a young RH outfielder. Sign a FA RF if the youngster isn't yet MLB ready.
SP1 Gray
SP2 Liberatore
SP3Mikolas Mathews --- big upgrade
SP4Fedde/McGreevy McGreevy
SP5 Pallante
Traded Fedde and replaced with McGreevy
Mikolas leaves via FA; replace with Mathews
Sign a FA SP to push Pallante for a job; need some depth until the herd of LH starters (Henderson, Hanson, Mautz) is ready late in 2026.
They should DFA Mikolas now and give Curtis Taylor an MLB look to see if he's worth keeping around for 2026.

Re: McDaniel rates Cardinals farm system 9th
Once Wetherholt, Church, Crooks, Mathews get promoted it will hurt the rankings quite a bit, I think.

JJ was drafted a year ago. They jumped from 23-15 immediately after. I am assuming Doyle had same effect. That’s my point. It’s not farm depth. It’s 2 real prospects. Milwaukee is #1 and have 8-10 players ready for the bigs and have the best record in baseball. Even at 9 the Cardinals MLB roster has a long way to go. Also they have a ton of 5 year minor leaguers not on 40 man. I beleive 14. More than any team. That has a huge effect and unless they find a way to protect them by trading or releasing the rank will change

So now we know why Wetherholt is still in Memphis. Mozeliak wanted that top 10 ranking!
