Army is going to have to pay Snuggerud, Holloway and Broberg in the near term after already committing to Buch, Thomas and Kyrou. There simply isnt a space here for Bolduc.
Thomas? Kyrou? Buch?
Theyve all outperformed Bolduc on a daily basis.
However.
Neighbour is/was the right answer. If someone was to move. He is a poor man's Backes. Who had the value of a up and coming 2nd line power forward and the type of guy we have plenty of.
Kyrou, Tex, and some times Thomas............ Blues on the roster, I wouldn't consider, 'power forward. The rest will have PF on their draft cards

Lol who cares what their draft card says the Blues werent trading Jake Neighbours. His value right now today in the NHL is a helluva lot higher than Bolduc whos done next to nothing in the NHL yet. Jake Neighbours at 23 years old is one the best forwards from his draft class already 56 goals in 211 NHL games. Only Peterka has better draft capital taken back at #34. Lucas Raymond (#4, 2020) only has 42 more goals than Jake but has played in 109 more NHL games. If Army was trading Jake Neighbours around the NHL the return would be a lot higher than Logan Mailloux.Cahokanut wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 12:18 pmThis is what you believe?moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 12:35 pmskill guys:Cahokanut wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 12:26 pmWho you got.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 12:15 pmactually backwards. As I'm going by draft card.
Bolduc also had hardly any ice time in the playoffs (lowest other than Matthew Joseph of forwards who received any ice time). Army also didn’t shine rainbows about his game prior to the trade. There were comments made like “he will have a shorter leash on his mistakes in his 2nd season than he did as a rookie”. This tells me that while to many (including myself) it seemed he played well, the blues might not have loved his game. If they liked him, I would expect a comment like “he outplayed our expectations this year, and while there may have been some bumps along the way, but we expect he will continue to progress and be a contributor in our top 9 going forward.”rezero wrote: ↑23 Aug 2025 21:45 pmBolduc was 8th in scoring and #1 in +/- among all rookies. I expect him to be a decent second pairing guy that contributes on the power play. I also expect Bolduc to be a solid middle 6 forward, a la Neighbours. If both play out that way, I’d rather have mailloux.
Bolduc may be a lot of things but BUM ain't one of them. I wish him the best of luck and look forward to Montreal kicking the [shirt] out of the Chickenhawks every time they play them this year.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 16:30 pm Montreal sure is dumb for trading a top four defenseman that can punch harder than he can shoot for a third line bum that overachieved last season.
I don’t think Montreal is dumb and this is a major twisting of words.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 16:30 pm Montreal sure is dumb for trading a top four defenseman that can punch harder than he can shoot for a third line bum that overachieved last season.
I presume that is sarcasm, but it is a bit unfair. This is just two teams trading solid futures from positions of strength/over abundance within their pipelines.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 16:30 pm Montreal sure is dumb for trading a top four defenseman that can punch harder than he can shoot for a third line bum that overachieved last season.

Before Noah Dobson you had a lot of fans predicting Mailloux as a future top four defenseman. With Noah Dobson they don't have room.
With Zack Bolduc the Blues had a solid middle six guy who was on a team maturing a lot of solid middle six guys.
This trade should just work out for both teams. Some people seem to be troubled that this could just be a good hockey trade.
The overwhelming majority of Blues fans would agree with this post, especially the last paragraph.dr0zombie wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 17:03 pmI presume that is sarcasm, but it is a bit unfair. Like Kyrou, he made huge strides at the end of the regular season.stlsportsfan15 wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 16:04 pmBolduc also had hardly any ice time in the playoffs (lowest other than Matthew Joseph of forwards who received any ice time). As soon as I saw the “shorter leash” comment, it made me feel his time here was ticking.
I will admi I did not. I am pretty sure you didn't either. No one knows the future with any certainty for anything. I think you then fall into the opinions of hilarity with your own.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 17:07 pmThis board is trending towards posting something like I did above.dr0zombie wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 17:03 pmI presume that is sarcasm, but it is a bit unfair. Nobody knows how this will work out - nobody here actually watched him play in the AHL so these conversations are hilarious.
The only thing I did was to look at the Montreal fans reactions on HF when the trade went down.dr0zombie wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 17:30 pmI will admi I did not. I am pretty sure you didn't either. So what did I do? What I did was review pre-Dobson opinions from Montreal fans to see what their expectation was of Mailloux was before the trade. Overwhelmingly they were expecting Mailloux to make the team and slot in as a top four defenseman. Until proven otherwise I am going to go with those opinions.
As I said, read the sources like HF before the trade. I would call looking for views before major press events wisdom. You can call it what you want.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 17:50 pmThe only thing I did was to look at the Montreal fans reactions on HF when the trade went down.dr0zombie wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 17:30 pmI will admi I did not. That means nothing imo - I want to see the guy play against NHL players for a couple of seasons and then I'll give an opinion on this trade.
