LOL. No, Red, you’re a “warm weather “ fan.
You don’t cheer for your team when they’re down. You turn your back on them.![]()
Attempting to have a fair conversation with someone who thinks he's never wrong can be a source of frustration. Although being confident in your beliefs is usually a positive attribute, everyone knows a person who finds it virtually impossible to admit that they've done or said something wrong. As a result, you're left wondering if a discussion is even worth the effort, since the person who just has to be right.

Again, turning your back on the owner and turning your back on the team are two different things.Cranny wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 07:15 amSo “real” Cardinal fans dump on their own team?

It isn't worth it as you never get anywhere and it leads to pages and pages of bickering when we could be using that energy to discuss the same topics with others who are genuinely here for true conversation.OldRed wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 08:54 amAttempting to have a fair conversation with someone who thinks he's never wrong can be a source of frustration. Re: We are watching a AAA team
Kinda funny we still have threads like this. Is there anyone who didn't know what this season was going to be like? As frustrating and dull as Cardinals baseball has been this year, no one can genuinely say it was unexpected.
AAA team, as the OP suggests? The Cardinals were .500 at the trade deadline. Mediocrity doesn't get any more mediocre. So at the deadline the team traded some marketable assets for more prospects. What did anyone expect to happen? A winning streak? More mediocrity? The team has played under .500 since the deadline. Does anyone enjoy that? No. But I think it is wholly expected.
So what's a lifelong diehard Cardinals fan to do? One could just punt on the '25 Cardinals season and spend sports attention energy elsewhere. NCAA football is here and the NFL is soon to follow. We are weeks away from the NHL pre-season. The Premier League and other European soccer leagues have kicked off. I just watched 4 dwarfs race a camel on the internet. So there's other things to do. Or one could follow this rebuild (I really don't care what anyone else calls it) and see who makes something of their opportunity and who doesn't, who sinks and who swims. As a 50+ year Cardinals fan I've been in this situation before, and know there are brighter days ahead, and that satisfaction will be gleaned from the memories of watching some of these guys develop.
Go Cards. Beat Pittsburgh. I don't wanna be a Pirate.

I like you are a Cardinal fan. And even with their frustrating record I still miss watching very few games.BrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025 11:31 am Kinda funny we still have threads like this. Contreras 1B
Gorman 3B
Saggese SS
Prieto 2B
Walker RF
Crooks C
Church CF
Pallante RHP

Re: We are watching a AAA team
Ozzie and Lou were exceptions rather than the rule. Just as Albert was.Cranny wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 08:07 amHow soon you forget, Red.
How about that “AAA” shortstop who came to the Cardinals from the west coast. In his first four seasons for the Padres, he hit .258, .211, .230, .222.
He finally hit over .300 when he was 32 years old.
By golly, he ended up making the HOF.
Then there was that “AAA” player who came to us from the Windy City. His first 2 years in the majors he hit .263 and .258. And that “AAA” player
also ended up in the HOF.
Maybe, just maybe, some of the existing “AAA” Cardinals may not make the HOF, but may develop into good solid major leaguers.
Not all players in any lineup (for any team) are made up of proven grizzled veterans like you would like.
Re: We are watching a AAA team
Of course we are! That’s what a rebuild, reset, retool, whatever you want to call it looks like. If I had a dollar for every time I heard people say they wanted to see young hungry players, I’d be a rich man. Well, that’s what you saw today. That’s pretty much what you’ve seen all year.
Re: We are watching a AAA team
This has been a regurgitation, with no end in sight And ownership that refuses to spend what it takes to field a WS contender. Just sell, Bill.
Re: We are watching a AAA team
We are getting close, but I like it.
