Bolduc was a bad move.
One.
He was the wrong guy.
If we were to trade for a rhd. Neighbours would of been the guy to trade. He is the guy we have 10 of. Bolduc was what Thompson was and will be. A 50 goal sniper.
Neighbours is another third line grinder army has turned into a second liner.
Two. Bolduc has so much more value. Any other gm would of ask for a first to go along with a hope. Some would of walked away on a second rd. But I feel, this trade like many was more personal, then business
As far as army winning some and losing some trades.
That's big time bull[shirt].
His best trade, is/was judged on the fact we won the cup. If not for that, Buffalo made out like a bandit and we got another old guy.
Imo. This team was on the way to be a multiple cup winner. When Army took over. However Army is smart, stopped all that building and starting giving old friends, new jobs. Because he knew February wins, are what his fans want. Now he is the greatest. Tell me. Are the blues even in the top half of the league in wins. Under Army. How about points. Top ten?
Unhinged nonsense. The Blues rank fifth in wins under Army's tenure with 601 including four of the top five points totals in team history [and a Cup], per the Google AI.
Fifth in the league in wins over that LOOONG span. Cue the "always good not great" complaints.
Several of the regular posters on this forum are perpetual whiners, clueless and unable to appreciate what others have provided for their entertainment.
Dwag calling names. While mouth full. Seems daily.
Blues are ranked 15 in wins the last 5 yrs.
9th in the last 15.
Seems the more we get into the team Army built. The more the truth is seen.
Those first 5 years with the team the last gm built. Is the difference between Army's greatness and Some posters ignorance.

I think you’re way overrating Bolduc’s potential here. A 50 goal scorer? There were 800ish players that played in the NHL last season. One of them, Leon Draisaitl, scored 50 goals. I really like Bolduc and he has a nice shot but it’s incredibly unlikely he ever scores 50.
You think the Blues should’ve gotten a 1st on top of Mailloux for Bolduc?? Again, you’re way overvaluing Bolduc. He’s 1 year farther along so carries a little less risk in that sense than Mailloux but otherwise they’re pretty comparable in terms of caliber of player. And Mailloux plays the much more valuable position. Him being a RD (hardest position to acquire) and Bolduc being a winger (easiest position to acquire) bridges that value gap IMO.
I meant 40. But I'll stand close to 50 as a career high.
I may overvalue him. But we all saw by playoffs end what other teams thought about him. Only Blues player with a tail on the pp. Only Blues player teams would focus and close in on when on pp ice. No matter what I think. That's Value.
Mailloux. Had and still has little value. Other then side and hand. He offers nothing we don't already have or couldn't of got with for a Toro.
We couldn't get a third for Mailloux. If we tried tomorrow or yesterday. No way we get a player who showed the promise like Bolduc did. Even being held back by Blues management. He showed some special potential.

Mailloux has 1 very exceptional and endearing trait. He is CYA for Army. Do you think Army wants to retire knowing that he could never patch the hole left by Petro? No way.
Mailloux is Army's final, most expensive, and most risky solution yet. He is Roundup xtra xtra xtra to kill the weeds in Army's crack.
Bolduc was strong young power forward with a shot.
He was sacrificed for Mailli and we needed a big tough rhd with top line potential.
With that said we drafted a Power forward In carboneau that has more skill and higher upside. He was ranked #25 out of the top hundred prospects, Higher than snuggy and dvo.
So looks like we will be right on track in a year or so.
buch thomas snuggy
hollway schenn kyrou
Neighbior dvorsky carboneau
fowler parayko
broberg Maillioux
Lindstein Jircrek
ralph fischer

Lol!!! A 50 goal sniper, i stopped there so dumb. Bolduc has ONLY scored in PRO HOCKEY (AHL, NHL) under Monty, literally has dont nothing else. Im sure Bolduc will net some goals, but cmon.
I can't see the logic behind Bolduc being a 50 goal scorer while Neighbours being the guy we should have traded. I think Neighbours, to me at least, would have stung more. Here's my logic:
Jake Neighbours
23 y.o
.27 goals per game
Zach Bolduc
22 y.o
.25 goals per game
Jake Neighbours: He has already put together two 20-goal seasons in the NHL. IMO, that's a huge accomplishment for a player that young. Beyond the stats, you could argue he brings important intangibles - He plays a heavy, physical game, is a great forechecker, and from what I've seen, he's a natural leader with a high hockey IQ and compete level.
Zach Bolduc: He's a year younger and has play driving ability and goal-scorer instincts and potential. While his NHL numbers are still developing, his scoring record in junior hockey was excellent, and last year we saw his wicked shot and release. You could make the case that Bolduc has the potential to be a perennial 30+ goal scorer and that his offensive upside is ultimately higher than Neighbours' while still bringing the intangibles - some of his body checks last year were highlight reel worthy.
The fact the Blues have these types of players in plethora under the age of 23 is why the sting of losing Bolduc - who developed right before our eyes last year - a little less. I grew up in a time when names like Johnny Pohl, Justin Papineau and Eric Boguniecki were our typical prospects and names like Barret Jackman, Christian Backman and Jay Mcclement were our high end ones. It's an exciting time to be a Blues fan.

Neighbors is go to the dirty area of thenet scorer. Bolduc was forcheck and perimetter type while carboneau will do both.

I wouldn't have traded either one for Mailloux, While he is something we needed we didn't need it with that kind of urgency and we were in a good situation to sit on a lower offer and risk/reward losing the deal or getting the player for less.
If I'm trading that kind of player my sights are higher than Mailloux even if I have to add more.
They are calling him baby parayko now. Thats the scouts coaches and Monty
there seems to be something there
This isnt even really a serious question, of course you trade Bolduc for Mailloux in the Blues' case. Apparently Mailloux has been in STL working out hes well received but as we said theres going to be some bumps. My guess is we will see some dumb penalties, bad D zone reads and poorly timed pinches. This happens when green dmen are learning the pace of the NHL. This is a kid who skates, scores, hits and fights all from the RD side, no brainer.

Yeah i am excited about the physical part. Its bad when your only top four dman that will get physical is faulk. I really didnt see fowler hit to often. I could be wrong
In another thread a poster is proclaiming Texier might be second-line stuff. The reality is the Blues have a glut of young and serviceable wingers, they cannot ALL play. If Texier earns top-6 minutes that casts a third line of Neighbours-Suter-Snuggerud. The next progression would mean someone else gets traded.
Caution: Don't fall ga-ga in love with these young prospects, there is a lot of development and sorting out yet to come.

Dawg
I think at this point carboneau. Dvorsky, and even alexndrov would be better options. Maybe even stenberg

Context is sorely missing on my Texier post.
Brandon Saad would still be a top six player here... IF HE GAVE A RAT's ASZ.
He did not. And Texier plays with little urgency..
