Back in 2011, when TLR resigned, it was apparent that BDW and Mo were absolutely overjoyed, because “The Load” was going out the door at years end.
TLR had the gravitas to challenge the GM and by proxy the owner to improve his teams and he wanted certain players here and certain players gone
Mo got a shot in at TLR by trading away Chris Duncan too
BDW and Mo starting in 2012 wanted to control everything with no backtalk from dugout, hired Matheny who was on verge of bankruptcy, hired Shildt who was quickly fired when he challenged Mo, and Marmol who is one of the youngest and lowest paid MLB managers
Toss in HackGate in 2015 when BDW and Mo played the plausible deniability card and orchestrated a back room deal with Manfred to make Correa the fall guy, don’t forget BDW chaired the committee that hired Manfred, and also the Judge in Texas didn’t allow Correa to say anything at his trial, Correa played nice, served time and I’m sure got a fat hush money wad for doing so.
It’s literally been a feces show for about a decade.
They made their bed and now they have to lay in it.
They killed a Golden Goose due to their own insecurities and poor decision making
This franchise is close to being the Pirates right now and I doubt BDW or BDW3 will give Bloom free rein to run the organization as he sees fit.
The owner and Mo have put major dent in this Organization that will be Long Lasting.
Buckle up!

Jocketty got whacked cause it was costing BDW a lot of Money for the veteran acquisitions (winning be damned), TLR saw the writing on wall, and Mo is a spineless weasel who does BDW bidding
Make no mistake, the owner is responsible for it all and has no regard for the fans, as his son pointed out in an interview
The non Cardinals media knows if they challenge the owner and GM, they will be ostracized and treated like dog dung, thus they back off.

Re: Philosophical Differences
2015 was the last year that they had been competitive regularly. Where you felt year in year out they could contend. Since then its felt like a struggle just to make the playoffs. They had the makings of a special team. They took 2 early hits with Waino and Holliday and won in spite of it. Mo refused to seize the moment and instead never replaced Waino and brought in a broken down slugger. The team no longer followed Matheny the same way as they saw he could not have their back when they needed help. Why risk your career playing super high intensity for a FO that isn't committed to winning?hmoss859 wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 22:37 pmSpot on….Baseball Savant wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 21:59 pm Let me give yall a little history lesson

Philosophical differences scorecard:
TLR knew Albert was leaving. And knew Mozeliak couldn't be trusted.
Shildt questioned and challenged Mozeliak on Jeff Albert and the roster. Mo didn't like it. DeWitt didn't want to spend on talent.
Yadi doesn't like what's happening. There's a reason he stays away. The 2 game appearance last week was a courtesy.

We have a guy like that at the fitness center I go to. About 5'6" but probably around 300 lbs. Hits the big bag a few times while screaming something, Then looks around like everyone should be scared of him. In reality, the only why he scares anyone is the fear that he might fall on them.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 21:35 pmCan't take the heat stay out of the kitchen. I have no proof but in Mo's own words he would be uncomfortable with a manager deciding who plays. Maybe he wanted certain players to play and Schildt gagged at the thought? Like I say, I have no knowledge or that but that would quite handicap a manager if true.RobbieRe wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 21:11 pm I know that Mo did not want to be challenged by his manager. Re: Philosophical Differences
Extremely insightful quotes here. I was not all that fond of Mozeliak before, but when he fired Mike Shildt I became downright disgusted with him. His arrogance and insistance on having total control has been very destructive to this ballclub.Clubmaker2 wrote: ↑16 Aug 2025 22:10 pm“I was so loyal to that organization, and cared so much,’’ Shildt said, “I felt an immense weight of being a caretaker of that organization. Ultimately, I put too much pressure on myself. That was my issue, not anybody else’s. I didn’t want to let Mo down. I didn’t want to let my team down. I didn’t want to let our fanbase now. I didn’t want to let the tradition of players that came before us down. I was very passionate of that, and dedicated to it, and at some level, I probably cared too much.
“There were just some things that I felt could be better, and I thought I was in a safe place to share them. Clearly, I wasn’t.’’La Russa, who spent 16 years as the Cardinals manager with two World Series titles before returning to manage the Chicago White Sox, said he heard a comment from someone in the Cardinals’ organization that Shildt was fired because of a “toxic environment.’’
“That one frosted my (donkey),’’ La Russa said. “My comment was that if it was toxic, it must be in the front office. … I’m for the Cardinals. Everybody makes their own decision. But when you start talking about that, it might damage his chance to manage again for those that don’t know any better. He did a hell of a job.
“Philosophical differences? Ok. But toxic?
“He’s a special guy. That’s why it’s so important for his reputation to be intact and not smeared.’’
