And the cardinals and Shildt and the cardinals and MM

It would be a colossal marketing mistake to bring back Oli, right up there w/New Coke.

He's NOT a good manager and has way too much of Mo's smell all over him.

FIRE as soon as the last out of 162 is made (okay, do it after Bloom is introduced and Mo is out the door).

Mike Shildt got fired after a 17 game winning streak in September
I meant to type Matheny. Must have had Torre on my mind for some reason. Regarding Shildt he reportedly went on a radio show in St Louis following the season and said he did as good as could be expected considering the talent he was given. He wrote his own ticket.

This is very simple.

It isn't just whether he is doing a credible job or not. As BDW3 has made it clear, fan attendance will factor significantly into how much they will to spend on a construction of a team. Bring back Oli and your attendance will suffer as fans will take it as the FO is not being serious as far as competing. Bring in am established name and fans will be more likely to come back. A .500 finish in 2026 will be met as continued failure. Under a respected new manager fans will view it as a transition year where the new manager is still in the process of getting 'his players' in place and is figuring out what he has. Fans will be more likely to take an interest in the team under the new manager.

Any stench from the Mo regime has to go or season tix will crater even more - guilt by association for Marmol

Too bad the owner won’t be affected

That’s the major problem

He got 2 WS years ago, he is perfectly content and will go to his grave doing it his way, doesn’t want push back from anybody, really sad state of affairs with ownership

Old curmudgron, and a tone deaf son

Let’s have some common sense. What is a better PR move, for Mo to fire Oli with six weeks of his own employment left for for Bloom to do it?
And really, wasn’t .500 about what everyone expected out of this team? They have a brutal starting staff and that’s not Olis fault. He could stay or go for all I care. I don’t think he’ll be around to long though. There are a lot bigger problems than Marmol. If francona was the manager I’d imagine this teams record isn’t significantly different. Of course, no way to prove it either way

I'm not a fan of Oli, but I don't really agree with that at all.

I dont think ownership cares anymore. Its almost like they're more concerned with gaslighting fans and winning some pissing contest than they are about performance or attendance.

The team is in transition. And chaos. And despite next year also being more rebuild (in my opinion) they will want to sell tickets.

Soif you are going to replace the manager when would it be wise to do so? Err,how about pre-season when people are considering renewing their season tickets?

Also it would not happen until the new GM is officially in charge.

I have no idea if they plan on dumping Oli. Do not care. This year and next year NO manager could take this level of talent into a playoffs as a contender.

Now if they actually make the right moves talent wise I WILL want a better manager in 2027 and beyond.

People also liked Shildt because he revived smarter, aggressive, good fundamentals baseball. Which was something that declined under Matheny and is again declining under Marmol.

I’m not saying Shildt is the greatest manager we’ve ever had — far from it. But he was better than Matheny and a LOT better than Marmol.

Shildt clearly got fired because he disagreed with Mozo the Clown. Mozo doesn’t like people who debate him, stand up to him, or know more than him.
