I believe we were playing when the Bouwmeester trade came through. That was pretty exciting.
Fun to be here when goirish had the Kariya news long before anyone else.

Re: There's an Acquisition Anniversary This Week
Here are a couple of bad ones that I remember vividly. I was in my mom's pinto heading to Olivette rink for the Eddie Olson summer hockey school and we were driving right by where they were building West Port Plaza when the John Davidson trade was announced. In the summer of 1991 I had to get my catalytic converter replaced at a Midas on the Rock Road and when I got back in my car $500 poorer, I heard the news that we lost Scott Stevens

Ha. I remember the Bouwmeester trade. I was in San Fran on acquisition/transition with a company. It was a late night, so I had no news.
Get to the plant the next morning and found out of the trade on this forum. I had a hard time that day concentrating.

Anyone remember the Eric Lindros hype only to shift to Tkachuk trade?
I remember Lindros flying in or something and doing a physical...maybe? It seemed certain that Lindros was coming, but then it seemed out of nowhere the trade for Tkachuk happened.
I didn't know this, but apparently is was a Turgeon for Lindros deal.

That 2001 playoff run was a good one. That team seemed to have the right pieces. But then Colorado.

The news about Scott Stevens broke at 3pm on Tuesday Sept 3, 1991 and it was raining. I was driving courier all over STL as a summer job. I was parked on Big Bend by Manchester Rd when I heard the news. For three days, this story led the entire local news broadcast.fish wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 22:58 pm Here are a couple of bad ones that I remember vividly. As for the 2001 era, Blues were legit heavy-weight contenders, but so were Dallas, Colorado and Detroit.

I believe 2001 was when Forsberg was hurt and out, so if we were ever getting by that juggernaut it was right then!blues2112 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 10:56 amGreat post! Yep. And I thought Sakic was playing injured too.Cedar wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 15:23 pmI believe 2001 was when Forsberg was hurt and out, so if we were ever getting by that juggernaut it was right then!blues2112 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2025 10:56 amGreat post! The absolute best memory I have from the playoffs was Game One vs. San Jose. Revenging from the prior year.
First 20 second, Mellanby nails Suter and separates his shoulder, knocking him out of the game.
Then San Jose started getting real dirty. A scrum started and Lindsey, I think, blatantly punches MacInnis. Big Al just smirked...but he was p!ssed.
On the ensuing 5 on3, they just fed MacInnis over and over while he just fired slapshot after slapshot and finally scoring. I've never seen MacInnis so mad and revengeful. He was going to score no matter what. And the whole team knew it.
