Mo sure takes a lot of heat. Truth is, he may not be the most likable individual, but he’s had his hand in a lot of the successes over the years.

Exactly. This has been a rudderless ship since OT died. No plan. Constant reaction mode. No idea who they want to be. Then Nado and Goldy drop into their lap via easy trades and they don't finish the job and get the pitching and complimentary pieces to make a run. The development system fell years behind what other orgs were doing. Ownership obsessed with bobbleheads and BP Village. They hire Shildt to bring back fundamentals and then fire him after he does and install a pretty useless manager. Then they finally get a plan to hire Bloom and revamp the minor league system. Great. But this season shows they still are paralyzed and cannot decide who they are. They bring in guys like Motter, and now Hampson, which is downright insulting to the fan base. Release Hampson and give Church a try. Who cares about service clock with Church? Hampson is a complete waste of a roster spot and a 40 man spot. Typical MO dumpster dive. So yeah, MO has been pretty ineffective for most of the last decade and ownership hasn't done squat about it. It will be nice to see what Bloom can do, especially if ownership will spend at least $150M per year...

He’s been there 30 years. He’s had a hand in a lot of the successes over those years. Unfortunately recent moves like Ozuna, Goldy, Arenado, etc. haven’t led to going deep into October.

Other teams change leadership when things are stale. He should have been gone 5+ years ago. Ownership didn't do that and now things are a mess. Not an unfixable mess, but a mess just the same. This is really on ownership for not driving. They have been coasting and now are in the ditch. MO is a symptom of a larger problem that hopefully is being addressed. In typical ownership fashion it is being addressed at glacial speed. They should have told MO he was retiring at the end of last season. Typical.

BDW has been overly loyal to good friends Mo, Gary LaRocque, etc. You’re right.

Perhaps BDW should transition to exclusively concentrating on Charity as opposed to running a competitive franchise……obviously thats what he’s been doing for quite awhile with the Cards. Continuing to employ obvious underperforming FO and players is no way to run a MLB team

As the years tick by……either put a real effort into winning or sell.

Cranny has admitted he only watches the game to see a nice play here or there……has little care or desire about the game outcome….and never pays attention to what the manager does. Sounds a lot like a proud mother cheering for anything her son, does completely oblivious if the boys team ever wins a game. I’m not really sure why he bothers to chime in on threads about a winning Cardinals baseball team or hopes of better days…crazya::

You're correct...we see a lot of new people at every game...and not many stay for the whole game.

Oli was working with a very short pen. O’Brien, Svanson, and Romero were all unavailable. As was Ryan Fernandez. That left Munoz and Leahy. As it was, Leahy went 2.1. Just WHO did you look down into the Cardinals BP and see that you wanted in the game when it was 1-0?

Most SP don’t pitch into the 7th……so by default ALL MLB pens are active well BEFORE the 7th
