Miles 7th inning……thin 1run lead…..Nobody up in pen…..waits until lead lost to remove Miles
Miles always has an expiration inning where he blows up quickly…..I don’t care if he’s throwing a no-hitter against Rocks…..7th inning you have to have someone warming up.
Oli is not smart and not a winning manager.
Exciting win, though!
Can you think of a good reason to have no one up …..Miles pitching with a one run lead in 7th?
I don’t really post about single games…..its the mindset and strategy throughout the season that make or break a team.
Over and over he comes up short….sure Donny came up and pulled out the win late against a 30 win team…… not really the point though
That's because Oli is not an MLB caliber manager. Not even close.
Why don't YOU apply? Team's response
I promise you I would be a better manager than Marmol. Most people would!
Surely you don’t actually believe that?
I do. And don't call me Shirley!
Do you have an experience coaching or leading people?
You read this place, right? Not even most of the posters here could manage an mlb game.
I do, actually.
Good point. Lots of crazies here, lol.
But Marmol is really bad. Never should have been hired to begin with.

New take. Not heard on CT.
Maybe Oli hates Mo.
Very real possibility. Just imagine working for a guy you hate. At that level.
Bringing Molina in At plus request speaks loudly.
Maybe Oli is ok but is handicapped by Mo.
Mo sure takes a lot of heat. Truth is, he may not be the most likable individual, but he’s had his hand in a lot of the successes over the years.
Of course he takes the heat. Comes with the territory. Simple. But my thought was, maybe Oli does a good job considering the personal relationship. Imagine if he did get along. Harmony.
On the other hand, Maybe not. That’s why we debate.

Exactly. This has been a rudderless ship since OT died. No plan. Constant reaction mode. No idea who they want to be. Then Nado and Goldy drop into their lap via easy trades and they don't finish the job and get the pitching and complimentary pieces to make a run. The development system fell years behind what other orgs were doing. Ownership obsessed with bobbleheads and BP Village. They hire Shildt to bring back fundamentals and then fire him after he does and install a pretty useless manager. Then they finally get a plan to hire Bloom and revamp the minor league system. Great. But this season shows they still are paralyzed and cannot decide who they are. They bring in guys like Motter, and now Hampson, which is downright insulting to the fan base. Release Hampson and give Church a try. Who cares about service clock with Church? Hampson is a complete waste of a roster spot and a 40 man spot. Typical MO dumpster dive. So yeah, MO has been pretty ineffective for most of the last decade and ownership hasn't done squat about it. It will be nice to see what Bloom can do, especially if ownership will spend at least $150M per year...

He’s been there 30 years. He’s had a hand in a lot of the successes over those years. Unfortunately recent moves like Ozuna, Goldy, Arenado, etc. haven’t led to going deep into October.

Other teams change leadership when things are stale. He should have been gone 5+ years ago. Ownership didn't do that and now things are a mess. Not an unfixable mess, but a mess just the same. This is really on ownership for not driving. They have been coasting and now are in the ditch. MO is a symptom of a larger problem that hopefully is being addressed. In typical ownership fashion it is being addressed at glacial speed. They should have told MO he was retiring at the end of last season. Typical.

Which is about 5 years longer than he should've been here.
I blame BDWJr for being lazy, happy to keep Mo in place as long as 3+M keep coming.
BAD management by a very smart businessman, so glad he finally realized Mo must go and he needed to get back to the J. Luhnow model.

Perhaps BDW should transition to exclusively concentrating on Charity as opposed to running a competitive franchise……obviously thats what he’s been doing for quite awhile with the Cards. Continuing to employ obvious underperforming FO and players is no way to run a MLB team

How (upset) would I be if Bill’s loyalty to a toadie like Moe caused my investment, including the goodwill of the org, which is considerable, to disappear over the last half dozen years? Now I have to spend a ton more money to get the butts back in the seats. Bill’s love affair with Bow Tie needs to be studied in MBA programs across America. And to those who think Moe isn’t to blame, he sure as hell is. He wouldn’t know a pitcher from a catcher from an outfielder. That’s his job, TO KNOW BASEBALL TALENT. He doesn’t and never has. As a consequence, he lost the respect of the club house long ago.
