Cincy is underrated.
I always enjoyed their zoo, art museum, lunch on the riverboat Mike Fink. Cards never played worth a flip when we went down there. Pavarotti was great down there.

Never been to Cincinnati.
Re: Vancouver about to sign Thomas Mueller
I've only been there once, for work, and it was probably 30 years ago, and I don't really remember much. As you say, it may be nice/underrated, but the league wants the name players in markets other than Cincy, St. Louis, etc. And City ownership has to be willing to spend the money.

And you can add Columbus to the list of the ignored.SRV1990 wrote: ↑11 Aug 2025 07:52 amI've only been there once, for work, and it was probably 30 years ago, and I don't really remember much. It is going to take A LOT of money to get a name player to KC, Saint Louis or Cincinnati.

You can fill in 75% of the clubs.the league wants the name players in markets other than (fill in the blank)
It's not the League that wants players in certain markets.
It's the players wanting to play ONLY in certain markets.
Re: Vancouver about to sign Thomas Mueller
Players only wanting to play in certain markets is a problem for the league.

They have the biggest tennis tournament in the USA outside the US Open going on this week.

Mid-market teams will struggle to attract top talent.

So, what you're saying is that MLS is no different than other domestic leagues around the worldSRV1990 wrote: ↑08 Aug 2025 08:15 am Yeah, unfortunately that's the case for probably 3/4 of the teams in the league. Just a select few have a shot at getting a big name player. What pisses me off, though, is the perception that the league helps certain teams (e.g. Miami) and couldn't give two rips about many other teams.
Re: Vancouver about to sign Thomas Mueller
MLS most certainly does favor some teams over others.
I am looking at you Inter Miami.
LA Galaxy. LAFC.
Among the worst offenders.

Nobody wants to ignore the fact that MLS has had 15 different teams win the title in the 30 year history.
You can't say that about any other major, domestic league in the last 30 years.
