I live in Scottsdale, landed in my front yard.
Good lesson for up and comers, doesn't matter how hard you throw, big leaguers will feast if you dont pitch/locate

Hmm, I remember a poster on here who used to try and tell us frequently Woodford was good and needed to be in the rotation.Baseball Savant wrote: ↑06 Aug 2025 00:21 am Good ol Jake Woodford gives up 5 runs in 11th and San Diego prevails

Woodford was one of the slugs Cranny listed in his annual list of “up and coming” players.Baseball Savant wrote: ↑06 Aug 2025 00:21 am Good ol Jake Woodford gives up 5 runs in 11th and San Diego prevails

Was the starting pitcher in the AAA All Star game several years ago. 1. There’s a AAA All-Star Game.
2. Someone cares about it.

When the Cardinals faced him a couple of days ago, Miller couldn't land a breaking pitch or secondary offering.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 23:57 pm I live in Scottsdale, landed in my front yard.

Like Helsley this year, hitters can just sit on that fastball. Spit on anything else unless he hangs one.
Miller is a couple of ticks faster than Helsley. But professional hitters can still hit a fastball even at 104 mph.
Can he vary shape and speed to throw hitters off? Anyway he's having a good season. So most things are working for him.

Cranny loves his clean cut hard working white guys.

Re: Mason Miller gives up HR on 104 mph heater
Although… was he (or Hudson) really working that hard? I never saw anything about them visiting pitching labs to work on pitch shape / spin / design to try to figure out how to miss bats.
They both looked the part of innings eating mid-back of the rotation starters but never did anything development wise to get there. Some of that is obviously on the organization for being nearly a decade behind the industry in pitching development.

It’s not. He’s averaged over 13 K/9 (204 K in 138 IP) so far in his career.
Hicks is at 8.8/9 for his career (9.2 as a RP)
