Horn's decision to play football this fall provides some insight into the QB battle. For Horn to return for football after signing for $500k with LA says either or both of the following:
1. Horn has some serious NIL money if he sticks around this fall
2. Horn feels he has a real shot to win the QB competition over Pribula
Should be an interesting fall camp
we all know Horn has a big arm. Based on Pribula's limited action at Penn State, he mostly ran. Now that may be Penn State play calling. Dunno. So, I would like to see Horn successfully win the starting job. He is a pro style QB. Now that is just me. I prefer a pro style QB
Then I read where Drink says he is also looking for in a QB is leadership. The one who the team looks up to. That was why Cook was starting. Cook a great QB? No. But, it seems Horn was not being leader enough.

I don't think it will be a distraction.
If anything it puts baseball on the back burner for Horn.
He's got a bird in the hand as it were and the focus now will be squarely on winning the QB job.
I don’t think there’s anyway Horn wins the QB job. His best shot at a professional sports career is baseball.
I kind of disagree on whether there is anyway Horn wins the QB job. He has a shot. BUT I do agree that if he doesn’t win it, he should focus 100% on baseball. He could be a good pro pitcher. I also think it’s his best opportunity for success at the professional level.

Good for him. This does have to put him behind in the QB competition, though. I don't care what anyone says, Drink would love to have an experienced QB playing in 2026, and Pribula is the only option in that regard. Horn will have to be head and shoulders better in practice to win the job.
Sounds logical but not so sure it is in todays game.
Drink will cross the bridges as they come, and right now it will be who is the best in '25 imo.

If horn is better that is clearly who he should play. My point is with all things being equal, pribula probably wins tiebreakers.

As a Mizzou fan who wants to see the team succeed, I sure hope he doesn't "depart if he's not going to start."
A quality backup is invaluable during the season, especially one that was competing for the top spot, where any need for transition would then be seamless.

Where did I say he should quit at the beginning of the season if he doesn’t get named the starter? Which is what you are implying. An honest person would see that I was saying if he’s not able to be QB1 this season he should focus 100% on baseball.
Missouri football is holding its first scrimmage of fall camp Monday, the official beginning of Week 2 of its preseason practices. The scrimmage will take place behind closed doors, but the Tribune and other local media outlets have been able to watch portions of the Tigers’ opening six practices that came before it.
So, let’s take another stab at predicting what the depth chart will look like when Mizzou opens its season Thursday, Aug. 28, against Central Arkansas on Faurot Field.
Every player currently listed on the roster is included, along with their listed year. All first-year transfers have been marked with an asterisk (*). And, of course, this is just a projection and liable to change throughout camp:
Missouri football quarterback
Starting contenders: Beau Pribula, gr.*; Sam Horn, r-jr.
Reserves: Matt Zollers, fr.; Tommy Lock, gr.; Kameron Eleby, fr.; Essien Smith, fr.
If we have to put a number to it, we’re leaning 60/40, Pribula over Horn. That, for reference, is about where we entered fall camp, too.
The quarterbacks, true to what the coaches said leading into the preseason, have been given equal opportunities through the first week. Pribula’s athleticism seems to fit the Mizzou scheme and provide a more seamless bridge from Brady Cook.
But this is very much still a competition. Two scrimmages this week likely will provide some separation that we have not yet seen — and we wouldn’t be stunned if it went either way.

From the Columbia Tribune . . .
Bring out your depth.
