I agree. I hate IH hitting 2nd. While hes hot the bat for 2, he isn't your typical #2 hitter. I'd much rather see him in the 5 hole. I just think he'd get more rbi opportunities.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 07:15 amHerrera hits second I don’t know why people always point out he’s not a middle of the order bat when he bats second but for a team with no middle of the order bats he could certainly do it he’s hitting .392 .476 1.104 with RISP and .297 .376 .861 with runners on I would take that from a middle of the order bat any day and while he doesn’t hit a lot of home runs which Mel loves to point out he has more home runs than the unikkorn

Re: Herrera seems overated, Burleson's improved batting eye
He has hit himself back into looking like a MOT bat the last few games. If you extrapolate his season to 540 abs he's on pace for 25HR 100RBI and he just turned 25.
He's def looking like a diamond in the rough type hitter. If he can maintain or improve this pace, Cards have struck gold.
Need more mining metaphors.

Pitchers aren't catching up to him, he's still a stud hitter.![]()
I think Burly will be a piece this winter in any big deals C. Bloom makes.
Re: Herrera seems overated, Burleson's improved batting eye
If traded this off-season. It would be fun to see Burly playing for the Cubs through his prime years. He'd do quite well playing many games at Wrigley. Maybe at least one All Star selection.rockondlouie wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 11:05 amBingo bccbccardsfan wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 09:19 amIH had a little cold streak and has heated up again. It looks like he is going to pan out
He was buried treasure in the minors last year
Definitely not fools gold
...
His bat is forged in fire
He has iron resolve at the plate
He's one of their strongest links in the lineup chain
Ok I'm tapping out. Next?

Herrera is a fine hitter, Burly is just ok sometimes. If he is the best we can do trouble looms.

He’s the best hitter on the team for sure the other hitters go into extended slumps where they are virtually useless he may go into short slumps but then heats back up quickly that’s why he’s kept his average above .300 and OPS over .850 all seasonRunSup wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 12:13 pmThey may have hit the mother lode with Herrerablackinkbiz wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 10:46 am He has hit himself back into looking like a MOT bat the last few games. Lol he can then go to a cubs forum and tell them in thread after thread after thread how awesome he is and how the manager seems to like his bat in the line upAbsolut wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 13:41 pmI’ll send you a cubs hatShady wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 12:00 pmIf traded this off-season. Re: Herrera seems overated, Burleson's improved batting eye
Burleson helped keep the offense competitive this season while some other players were underachieving.

I posted two times today and I'm seeking attention. What about all the other posters that post much more than I do? What are they seeking? Crawl back in your hole.
Re: Herrera seems overated, Burleson's improved batting eye
If Burleson were on a Cubs team like this one he might PH and get a spot start each week.Shady wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 12:00 pmIf traded this off-season. Great question!CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 21:29 pmDo you like any player who is actually any good? You must be an underdog story yourself…or a starving for attention goof.
Shady, do you follow the entire mlb or just the cardinals?
Would you rather the Cardinals win a World Series with an “underdog” team of scrappy unknown players or a Doninant world Series win where it’s obvious we destroyed the other team?
who in your opinion is the better current player, Gunnar Henderson or Bobby Witt jr ?
Who in your opinion is the better player Jordan Walker or Blaze Jordan?

Alec Burleson and Matt Adams are a really good comp, Alec is 10 years younger, they play the same positions and Alec currently has roughly half as many PA’s as Matt, I would not say Matt Adams was a good ballplayer, he was alright and if it wasn’t for his little playoff success and his HR’s off of prime Clayton Kershaw then I’d say he is almost forgettable, Matt Adams never won any awards and only had 1 full season, and after age 28 he never played in more than 121 games and he did that once!Mort Gage wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 16:41 pmIf Burleson were on a Cubs team like this one he might PH and get a spot start each week.Shady wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 12:00 pmIf traded this off-season.
