+1 it’s strange people complaining about Contreras. He wasn’t signed to be a big offense force if he was a big offense force he would have got a whole lot more than 87 million he’s getting paid like a complimentary piece he was signed to be a complimentary piece to goldy and arenado which he’s a 20 home run 80 rbi guy and would be fine hitting 5th or 6th but arenado and goldy wet the bed so he had to be elevated to big thumper position which he’s not and was never meant to be and they moved him to first because they need him healthy and in the lineup everyday because if he’s not in there you end up with pitiful bats like Gorman and walker hitting clean up and then people whine about him being a first baseman. Just weird people complaining about himBrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 09:59 amWC’s bat, like many on this team, are adequate when not relied upon to drive the offense, but as complimentary pieces to a couple big thumpers, like Goldy and Nado used to be.Goldfan wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 22:12 pmThose numbers are fine at Catcher…..some might even get all excited about it….but at 1b now it’s very averageBraund241 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 22:01 pmA slightly below average player on a really bad team. Lets review
Career 30-25 HR
2025 15HR
Career .258 BA
2025 .255
Career .818 OPS
2025 .786
Peak 74 RBis
2025 64
So Willson might have a few more RBI’s than his career avg……but other than that looks like same ole WC
Why anyone would think a 33yr with YEARS of stats in the bag would become an impact bat is puzzling
It’s puzzling why CTers would fall for it and more discerning why a MLB FO would fall for it
W. Contreras

Re: W. Contreras
He was moved to first base because he is under contract and refused to lift his no trade clause, leaving him stuck here. And, most likely the thing that makes it all add up, he is dumber than a box of rocks and the pitchers couldnt deal with it.

Thanks for clarifying the 2/3 typo. I’m often a victim of fat thumbs myself.Goldfan wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 08:25 amThe 3 should’ve been a 2….Absolut wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 07:05 amYour first stat suggesting he’s a 25-30 hr guy? Hes never done that. Your last statement suggesting he’s below peak rbi is misleading, he’s on a 90 rbi pace.Goldfan wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 21:55 pm Being healthy this season at 1b should noticeably elevate his numbers

He’s on pace for career high in runs, hits, doubles and rbi.
At Age 33.
He’s pace has cooled….we shall see
BA and OPS below par…..
If Goldy were hitting, and he did, like this at 1b all would be saying its time to go…..and he did.

Who made the call that this guy was a major league catcher? Bow Tie?

Re: W. Contreras
This is his 3rd season in St Louis. Why the outrage about his catching deficiencies? Have we not had time to come to terms with this? He isn't catching, and isn't going to catch. Let it go.
Re: W. Contreras
Not so much complaining……just reviewing the mood from when they moved him to 1b…..Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 10:32 am+1 it’s strange people complaining about Contreras. It’ll unleash his offensive greatness….were the comments.
CTers need to use their eyes instead of all this analytics [nonsense]….and projecting……same with the Nooter.
“When he plays a full season Greatness awaits”…..”break out player of the year”
Never is factor weighed into those glorious calculations that all the time those guys were resting through those seasons…..probably allowed them to be fresh and have the short good stints and exciteable slash lines. If they play everyday the grind makes them very ordinary.

Re: W. Contreras
My recollection is that WC stepped up and volunteered to move to 1B when that position was vacated by Goldy’s departure in free agency. I don’t see the connection to his NTC. Similarly, Pages stepped up when Herrera was injured. The difference is that WC will deliver around an .800 OPS, and Pages will never come close to that.Clubmaker2 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 10:38 am He was moved to first base because he is under contract and refused to lift his no trade clause, leaving him stuck here.
