I don't think he's a great manager, but he is burdened by a roster of poor players

However, there is an opportunity coming to completely make over the leadership structure.....the field manager should be part of that
Bloom will want to pick his guy.
I am thinking it's already a done deal with Varitek.
Bloom "should" have completely autonomy in all baseball decisions.......I am skeptical he will
Well, I hope he does.
Shouldn't have taken the job otherwise.
Time will tell.

Bloom has decided it's Varitek.
Done deal
I hope you are correct!!

Bringing back Oli,who has the stink of yet another poor season on him as well as "Mo odor" would be a colossal marketing mistake!

If BDWJr wants to draw UNDER 2M next year, then bring back this sorry excuse for a major league manager.

If he wants to excite the fan base and truly SELL CHANGE, then Oli must go.
Rock, you hit the nail on the head. It’s not just Oli’s performance as manager, but even more importantly, it’s the perception by Cardinal fans that he’s part of MO’s Mafia.

Bloom needs to get the broom and make a clean sweep to indicate to Cardinal Nation that a new (hopefully winning) day is here. I think Cardinal Nation would respond positively at the ballpark and in renewed interest on TV packages.

100% Hawkeye

And Oli is indeed part of the Mo regime, one most Cardinals fans want to forget and not be reminded of for 162 games in 2026!

I started that thread about Bloom doing just as you said, a Whitey -1980 like house cleaning!

I'd like to see this roster cleansed of Mo/Oli stink.

If he's not the long-term answer, wouldn't it make sense to move on from him now to avoid a cloud of negativity hanging over the young players?

Personally, I don't want him as the manager in 2026. That said, I also believe it would create a more positive environment for the rest of the season if the team were led by an interim manager—someone not weighed down by anxiety over job security.

An interim manager could make decisions with a long-term view in mind, rather than focusing only on short-term results in an effort to save their job.

Thoughts?
Oli wasn't my choice in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025.

The only thing of significance he has done was helped bring Albert back for his retirement season.

What kind of 'short term' decisions do you speak of? Actually curious.
Do you want Oli as the manager in 2026? It was a simple question to lead off the thread.
Sorry, I thought the ‘interim’ was in reference to 2025.

He should have never been hired. The sooner they get rid of this guy the better. This team has turned a deaf ear to him and his message.

No. Regardless of what the “goal” for 2026 is you have to have a fresh faced manager in there with these young kids that can establish a winning mind set. A new era. Keeping a yes daddy manager from the old regime that put them in this mess will only prolong things.

Finding a new manager should be Blooms first order of business. And he will need it to be a big splash

I'm not an Oli fan. I'm not a Mo fan. But it shocks me they get the vast majority of the blame when we have a cheap owner. He could transform the team immediately by signing free agents like Valdez, Tucker, and others. (Would such players even entertain coming to St. Louis anymore? Remember when it was Baseball Heaven?) A new manager and Bloom will still be limited by DeWitt.

Yeah, there's probably a Walmart somewhere that could use him.

Do NOT want Marmot managing anything on 08/06/25 let alone 2026.

They would have to kidnap people to attend Cardinal games.

So it seems the overwhelming consensus is a NO for 2026.

So, why have him continue any further in 2025? Why not just bring in an interim like Stubby or maybe Oquendo w/ zero expectations that they will be the 2026 manager. They can let the locker room breathe a little bit and work on culture, fundamentals, and building it up for '26 and beyond.
