Is Oli Your Choice For 2026 Manager
Yes or no?
If he's not the long-term answer, wouldn't it make sense to move on from him now to avoid a cloud of negativity hanging over the young players?
Personally, I don't want him as the manager in 2026. That said, I also believe it would create a more positive environment for the rest of the season if the team were led by an interim manager—someone not weighed down by anxiety over job security.
An interim manager could make decisions with a long-term view in mind, rather than focusing only on short-term results in an effort to save their job.
Thoughts?

No, and I agree he should be dismissed ASAP, and an interim manager appointed. Bloom would then have the off season to interview and hire a new manager for the '26 season.
This is probably not going to happen, since Mo is officially still the POBO. Once Mo is officially retired at the end of the season, Bloom will send Oli packing.

no reason to do it now unless you think the interim is the long term solution, which I doubt that'd be the case
it is what it is, play it out and reset in the offseason

Mebbe they sent out season’s tickets with a 30 September deadline, knowing Oli would be retained. Sneaky, I know. Desperate and below-board? Yep.

What kind of 'short term' decisions do you speak of? Actually curious.

Do you want Oli as the manager in 2026? It was a simple question to lead off the thread.ecleme22 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 08:07 amBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 07:48 am Yes or no?

Doesn't matter what we want.
Bloom has decided it's Varitek.
Done deal

I think so.
I bet they've already talked.
DimWhit won't push back.
He's open to new ideas.
It's going to be the Red Sox way now.
Re: Is Oli Your Choice For 2026 Manager
I am not as anti-Oli as many
I don't think he's a great manager, but he is burdened by a roster of poor players
However, there is an opportunity coming to completely make over the leadership structure.....the field manager should be part of that

Bloom will want to pick his guy.
I am thinking it's already a done deal with Varitek.

Oh H E L L NO!
Bringing back Oli,who has the stink of yet another poor season on him as well as "Mo odor" would be a colossal marketing mistake!
If BDWJr wants to draw UNDER 2M next year, then bring back this sorry excuse for a major league manager.
If he wants to excite the fan base and truly SELL CHANGE, then Oli must go.
