One day MO Ran looked in the mirror and said "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me." Thus the end of competent MLB in STL.
J could never, nor probably never wanted to, compete with that ego and death trap of lack of MLB incompetence .

Re: Oquendo Revisited
Ok. So Jose is a good infield coach. That doesn't make him a manager. Like others have pointed out. He was with the team a long time under TLR. Why is it no team had hired him?mike laga wrote: ↑02 Aug 2025 13:28 pm The secret weapon didn't have a chance with MO in charge.
Loved hearing an interview with Winn about his time with Oquendo in FLA. He was talking how awesome the experience was as if we didnt know who Jose was. I think Bloom is smart enough to realize it and make a bold move.
The feeble spineless gutless era of MO is over.
So you talk about the Cards not hiring him because they were spineless. How did he do with interviews? What's the main reason why no team has called him?
Re: Oquendo Revisited
Baseball knowledge out the wazoo
But the off field stuff kept him back
Plus he is very outspoken, too much so for Mo and DeWitt

This is first part of "Utility Man - The Quest for Cooperstown". Two Cardinal fans set out on a journey to get Jose Oquendo inducted into the Hall of Fame as its first utility man.
I think aired as an episode of ESPNs Cheap Seats back in the day. The remaking parts are on You Tube.
