Oh seriously, get over yourself.

If you think this was some premium content that is only getting cancelled cause of TrUmP, then your self righteous, “critic” shtick holds even less weight with me. And that’s saying something, belie me.
This has nothing at all to do with the content of Colbert's show. He was #1 in his time slot.

The options are A) he was too expensive for the dying network or B) his bosses succumbed to political pressure.

In neither case is it relevant whether you personally find him funny. But it is telling that your gut reaction to claims of censorship is to check your feelings to see if agree with the message (allegedly) being censored.
His show lost $40 million a year.

He is not funny. He is a preaching bore who makes himself the center of his show rather than guests, and invites too many unfunny/uninteresting

So what, he is the biggest late night host on broadcast tv. Yeah, the tallest midget at the Little People’s convention.

Gutfield rakes in a LOT more $.

But the worst thing about Colbert is they chose *him* of all people to replace Letterman. Letterman. Colbert.

It doesn’t compute.

Its totally fair to diss on Colbert - he is rather monotonously partisan ( but then... consider the material thrown at him), and the show is losing money. But consider the timing, consider the context and consider that

They are cancelling THE PROPERTY, not just Colbert, and when you put in the factors like - CBS throwing 16M at Trump rather than standing against a suit they were certain to win, parent corp Paramount on the threshold of a YUGE merger Trump is in a position to put the kabosh on, the OBVIOUS intimidation & coercion & propitiation at work for anyone with eyes to see (Trump is an omnidirectional intimidator, lets not quibble about that, please), to ignore all THAT context and pretend this is simply a 'financial decision' is beyond disingenuous. It doesn't pass a reasonability smell test.

Letterman was mentioned. He thinks you can't say CBS without the BeeEss, so we know where he stands ;)

Ok, I'm done on this subject :) Unless something else weird & outrageous & corrupt crops up down the road.

Yeah, you both already said all this. Even the same. gif for your 2-man circle jerk. I guess it wouldn’t be a circle. So a straight line jerk?

Like I said, let’s see what they do with South Park. That’s actually a clever, funny, wildly successful show. They went after Trump harder than Colbert ever has. Will it get cancelled? If so, maybe your point is valid. If not, it seems like you’re both just mad a bout a guy you all like, but not many other people do.

You already said that, DJ. :) The other guy was rehashing your context-free take, so its been said at least three times, which, as the meme indicates, ignores the real issue which transcends Colber(t) - not that a little censorship/suppression/intimidation/greenmail/oppression seemingly perturbs you, as long as the one getting yanked around is an entity/person/party/institution you apparently assess as beneath deserving of basic fair play, normal (non-coercive, decently/statutorily/constitutionally constrained) order. That's not how anything moral, ethical or legal works in a system actually designed to work sustainably, beyond breaking into the machine's cash box. Which is exactly what is going on, in sum.

Maybe you've heard about what is going on w/ the Universities. Throw that one on the pile, too, for more context, nor is that by any means the last of it.

Now, you want Paramount to be intimidated again and cave, again, w/ South Park, before you'll give what we're seeing happening right in front of us credence. How many times would any reasonable person have to get punched in the nose before deciding it hurts ? :)

Well, as a member of the Church of Letterman I do have to comment here as a matter of fairness.

David Letterman appeared on a podcast making his opinion known that he considers the Colbert cancellation intimidation by the Trump administration. I have to give this some weight.

I also will say my #1 political concern is intellectual freedom and matters that restrict free speech, and I am always concerned when I see government step in to silence, intimidate, coerce whether that be Biden or Trump administration.

Further examples of this should be taken to another board where I won’t follow because there is plenty of room on the I tnternets for these political discussions. That’s not why I come here, and I’m not saying this thread is wrong because it does belong on this board.

This is always what’s “fun” with Internet forums, when people like you and Dicky try to chastise others for not following rules of what you consider to be “context” appropriate responses. (Do you understand why they’re called threads?)

But also, there is no evidence that you’ve provided, at least, that the canceling had anything to do with the lawsuit. That was because of 60 Minutes. Colbert not being funny (and losing money) does in fact have context in this discussion.

Also, I never said I wanted Paramount to cancel South Park. But yeah, if a wildly successful program with a new billion+ contract gets cancelled, then you likely have a point. A failing late night show losing 40 million a year, you probably don’t. It’s not that complicated.

Are you really Clark as the troll claimed? You certainly debate like him, with your platitudes

You get the last word. If you can't see or acknowledge the mountain of suppressive context, of which this is but a piece, what can a simple fellow like me do to convince you ?

I’m not looking for the last word, but if this is it, so be it. These Internet forums, you engage me first, we disagree, you have nothing of substance, then it becomes the old last word thing.

Also, funny you quote the guy who kinda agrees with you, but did not for this. So I guess you’ll take my “last word” response as some kind of win, even though you’ve posted no mountain of evidence.

I note you didn’t address the question about you being Clark/Freud either. Bye Clark. Hope they ban this one too.

Wow, what a weird take. I'm not Clark. Don't think I'm anything like him. I won't be responding to you further. I've tried to be pleasant even while disagreeing with you, but that obviously cuts no ice. Bye.

But I thought I would get the last word! Ha, guess I will now?

Come on man, you haven’t been pleasant, just passive aggressive. And I’ve been more aggressive. Different communication styles, same intent. Your digs are not pleasant.

I actually think you’re a lot like Clark. Screen name making fun of Tyson’s speech pattern. I remember Clark used to do the same here making fun of how native Asians talk. Freud at first tried to make up a story about him being a psychologist here in town and not Clark, which he eventually dropped. Clark is a great writer (/s) so I could see him clinging on to another account with a different style, a lot of effort sure, but the same opinions and takes.

But hey, I could be wrong, I am a lot. Peace dude.

Also, at least Colbert seemed to get a little irritated during his interview last night with Kamala. I’ll give him credit for that. You got to read the book, my god, she is vapid.

I would love to see that little bit of irritation, but in my imaginary play of this KamalaColbert interview, he’s far too fawning and obsequious. It would just turn my stomach, so I can’t risk it.
