They wait until these players have no value.
Oh please. Shut up. Happens to every team.
Yawn, you have no influence here.

So he was damned if he SOLD more or Damned if he didn't sell enough.
You nailed it.

At this point, its just whining for the sake of whining.

Not really, half of the moves would be addition by subtraction (Nado, Noot, Fedde already done), most understood that this pss poor front office needed to pick a lane, they have not. They still think they are a playoff team, they are not. The complaints are justified.
REMINDER: Nado WAS traded. He blocked it.

There's always the option of not getting fleeced in those deals. Or does he not know how to not get fleeced?

CardsBest wrote: 31 Jul 2025 12:55 pm Yes this is crazy. This is from the article linked on X:

Phil Maton is expected to be the final trade for the Cardinals. Teams have inquired about Brendan Donovan, Alec Burleson and Lars Nootbaar to varying degrees, but St. Louis has "not entertained that up to this point" according to a team source. President of baseball operations John Mozeliak said twice in July that if the Cardinals sold, it would likely be limited to players on expiring deals — similar to how the organization operated when it last did so in 2023. Ryan Helsley, Steven Matz and Maton are all pending free agents.
That's actually a good strategy.
Cranny likes the front office’s strategy. Shocking.

Noot:
1) was not going to be viewed by any contender as a player to put them over the top.
2) having a down season
3) injured
Conclusion: Zero value. Better to trade in the off-season. Maybe he can have a good, healthy two months and at least build some value.

Burly:
1) was not going to be viewed by any contender as a player to put them over the top.
2) having a good year but 1-2 tools is not going to bring back much from this deadlines's buyers.
Conclusion: Some value but nothing anyone on this board (nor the Cards' front office) is gonna be happy with. Better to trade in the off-season when more teams will be shopping.

Donovan:
1) was likely on the wishlist of a team or two but probably not at the price the Cards would have, rightfully, been asking
Conclusion: like it or not, the Cards see him as a part of their core. He goes nowhere and is probably extended in the off-season.
