Missed opportunity to acquire a prospect or two that might help later on? Shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out, you’re being obtuse as usual.
Re: ESPN Olney: Cards are exchanging names for Helsley
Cards could send Helsley and Romero to the Yankees and most likely get a good young mlb pitcher like Warren and another pitching prospect.

Lose him for nothing.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 12:55 pm I think I heard on MLB that relievers go late
And what is the big deal if they don't trade him...

What if the prospects are more meh? Prior to last year, Helsley had 33 saves across 2 years.Horseradish wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 13:17 pmMissed opportunity to acquire a prospect or two that might help later on? Shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out, you’re being obtuse as usual.
He blows up last year and now has the highest WHIP and ERA of his career...

Get the panties in a twist..Pat McAvoy
"The reliever market led specifically by David Bednar (Pittsburgh Pirates) and Ryan Helsley Cardinals is moving quickly all of a sudden today with (Philadelphia Phillies), (New York Mets), (Los Angeles Dodgers), (Detroit Tigers), (Seattle Mariners), (Texas Rangers) all in play...both could get moved prior to Thursday trade deadline day now."
Over the last few days, rumors like this have picked up steam. Philadelphia has been a team connected to the Cardinals a lot along with the Dodgers. New York, Detroit, Seattle, and Texas haven't been talked about as much, but this isn't the first time any of these teams have been linked to Helsley.

Whoever doesn’t think they’re going to get good prospects back for Helsley are on crack.
rock keeps repeating it as if he knows what he’s talking about, but he’s full of shart

Yeah, there would be nothing stopping the Cardinals from signing him as a FA after trading him for the last 2 months of this year. Now, I doubt BDW Jr. will want to pay him what he wants because his seemingly obvious desire is to reduce payroll.rockondlouie wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 13:07 pmNopehugeCardfan wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 12:59 pmHe's the one guy who deserves a top 100 MB prospect. If teams aren't desperate enough....don't trade. I see no benefit to virtually give him away. Proffer a QO. He might decline for a 5 year deal somewhere and we could extend him over the winter ourselves....rockondlouie wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 12:53 pm I think the return is going to really disappoint those who think he's bringing back a Top 100 MB prospect, never happening.
If he had years of control and was dealt in the past offseason but NOT at this time.
Deal him for whatever you can get now.
If he's serious and would take a team friendly deal, then bring him back if Bloom wants him.

Maybe they can work out a handshake to decline the QO if he’s not traded. He’s going to want the multi year contract.rockondlouie wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025 12:53 pm I think the return is going to really disappoint those who think he's bringing back a Top 100 MB prospect, never happening.

There is zero reason to keep him...if we had a GM who could do his job worth a toss we'd get a decent return...don't let MO fool you, there is a market for Helsley.

At this rate maybe just keep him and offer QO and take the extra draft pick
Re: ESPN Olney: Cards are exchanging names for Helsley
Helsley is obviously on the block. JoJo and Maton rumors are out there. Who is going to close games in STL after the trade deadline?
