My point exactly! Well said.seattleblue wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 11:11 am So we watched Patrick Kane go around Jackman for a decade and the league is even faster now so we need not 1 but 2 Jackmans?
this has to be a parody of the way to think about the defense. like, let's name precisely something unnecessary

Any D man I can choose?DawgDad wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 10:53 amWould you prefer 6'4" 206 or 6'4" 212? Both can skate.Plagers4Ever wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 10:49 am If the Blues could have any defenseman from their past, I would prefer a Jaybo in his prime. A large size shut down defenseman who can cover a large area of the ice.
Well there was this one guy who was 6’6” 220lbs. Wore the note for a good minute. He could really skate also and good lord was he a mean SOB. One of the franchise’s worst moments when they decided to move him.
Re: The Blues Need A Barrett Jackman
Hint: JBo was listed at 6'4" 206. The other is a current Blues player.kimzey59 wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 11:15 amAny D man I can choose?DawgDad wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 10:53 amWould you prefer 6'4" 206 or 6'4" 212? EDIT: But yeah, who wouldn't want him in his prime? One of the best all-time.

There is a FAINT chance that 6'5" mean, fluid skating Lukas Fischer develops in a Pronger direction.

Chicago has a long term project at forward named Mason West that they drafted in the first round of the 2025 draft - he turns 18 in August and is going to be a senior in high school - he's 6'7" 220lbs and had D1 offers for football because he's also the high school quarterback. If he hits then look out NHL...

He’s not actually going to play for Edina HS again is he?? I know he’s planning to play for the football team again (which I think is stupid. If he’s truly committed to hockey he needs to focus on hockey now. Better hope he doesn’t break an arm or something) but he’d be a moron to play hockey for them too post draft. Needs to go play for the Fargo Force instead.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 11:42 am Chicago has a long term project at forward named Mason West that they drafted in the first round of the 2025 draft - he turns 18 in August and is going to be a senior in high school - he's 6'7" 220lbs and had D1 offers for football because he's also the high school quarterback. But whether it’s Fargo or Edina HS, I plan to attend precisely zero of his gsmes. There shall be no updates.

He's playing football at Edina because he says he can't let down his teammates and then going to Fargo for hockey. Risky...yeah...but he's a project.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 12:23 pmHe’s not actually going to play for Edina HS again is he?? True story.
Jackman gave his all, but he was pretty much JAG after the rule changes and lack of speed neutered his game.
I predict LM is a future badazz and crease clearing Dman extraordinaire, but there’s always more room for big bruising Dmen with no fear.

Jackman was a powder puff, that guy had more bad games than he had good games. Tucker is going to be the same.
Re: The Blues Need A Barrett Jackman
Jackman’s biggest crime is he was born 10-20 years too late. Had he played in the 80’s even early 90’s he may have been a perennial all-star. That era suited his game betterManitobaBlues wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 15:20 pm Jackman was a powder puff, that guy had more bad games than he had good games. Tucker is going to be the same.
Re: The Blues Need A Barrett Jackman
Yeah he was the guy last year who could not make the Habs roster. I worry people are expecting too much from this kid. My guess is he will be watching as much as he is playing for the first half of the year while people get comfortable with him.

JBo was a true space eater. He could neutralize any top line.Plagers4Ever wrote: ↑29 Jul 2025 10:49 am If the Blues could have any defenseman from their past, I would prefer a Jaybo in his prime. A large size shut down defenseman who can cover a large area of the ice.

I don't believe anyone has the ability to adjust players performance to any other time by pretending to mentally go through a non-existent time machine and spit out anything besides a wild guess. Jax was a great player because he did what he was supposed to do at that time on that Blues team. Jax was great "then" because he knew just how far he could go punishing an opposing player on the boards. For instance he would cross-check the bad guys relentlessly and get away with it. It was equally mental and physical so he didn't have to be a Bobby Gassoff or Bob Probert when they were doing what they did best. JMO.

Earth to BluesTalkers. Earth to BluesTalkers.
The best Army could do is get the 4th best RHD from Montreal. Your GM has nothing of value that is expendable.
If we are lucky, maybe next year Armangosteen will find us the 3rd best on Buffalo.

Re: The Blues Need A Barrett Jackman
Did you read the OP? He's talking about how we need another guy like Tucker, who barely made the Blues roster last season, only playing in 26, 26, and 38 games between the ages of 22-24. Yes, he says the Blues need a Barrett Jackman, but, as seattle pointed out, Jackman would hardly be considered a good defenseman in today's game, and the point is that we need a big body who is physical, and that is Mailloux 100%.
Mailloux has had a longer path but is only 22 and rounded out his game in the AHL last season. My point is that he represents a big body who bangs, but who can also skate and has some offense to his game.
I'm not expecting too much from him, but I have higher hopes than you do. My guess is he will play substantially more than he will watch Kessel play in his spot that Army said was his to lose.
