I was mistaken. I thought it was more recent. He stopped in 1999 before he was a manager.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 09:27 amNo thank you. I'd hire at his asking price and hold a parade for him in downtown St Louis.

Re: Glad to see Clint Hurdle back in the game
Is there really that bad of a shortage of manager talent to where a team would even consider hiring someone in their 80’s? I think the game has just devolved. As long as players keep getting mega deals for hitting .220 w/30 hrs the players’ approach isn’t going to change much so what can a manager really do about it?scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 08:48 amYes and he's 80 too.An Old Friend wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 16:16 pmSo you'd say no because he had a drinking problem in the 1980's and 1990's?scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 16:02 pmSame.govman wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 13:48 pmwhat about La Russo?scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025 09:27 amNo thank you. My issue with scouty is that he didn't bong him for age... he said no because he had a drinking problem 3 decades ago.

Follow the thread. It started with Hurdle having a drinking problem. Then asked about TLR and his drinking issue and then you asked if that was the reason and I said yes and he's 80.An Old Friend wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 09:02 amHe's certainly too old for it.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 08:59 amIs there really that bad of a shortage of manager talent to where a team would even consider hiring someone in their 80’s? How about Barry Bonds? Maybe we’d see that late career resurgence we’ve been waiting for with Arenado lol!scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 09:13 amCorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑27 Jul 2025 09:09 amI wonder how he’d feel if we hired Daryl Strawberry.
