Nestor Quixtan obviously has no information. He does have an imagination though. Slow day for hockey reporters apparently.
Boy, isn't that the truth! And what's really sad is the hockey illiterate out there are going to eat this up as gospel and parrot his talking points.
1-American Thanksgiving is a good indicator of where yout team is at. For instacne, the percentage of making the playoffs is well south of 50% if your not in the top 9 at that point in the season. Not saying that its a lock but it's a consideration.
2-The Blues do have assets that will be on expiring contracts at the trade deadline. They would not need to be in a rebuild to sell off parts for extra picks. Let's say Sunny is having a solid year but getting outplayed by others and is just an extra piece. If the return is good enough then I would be fine.
Of course all bets are off it the Note is out of the playoffs at that time. I can't see why management would move to many yound pieces for rentals at this point though. I think Srmy sticks with the plan and they continue to build younger and get better for the long haul.
Reading a bit between the lines you're falling into the trap set by the agenda crowd, assuming a dysfunctional assessment triggers sell. What did Army do last season when the team was in an early season funk? He acquired Fowler.
Army and Steen need to do two things now: Keep the prospects playing in a competitive OJT environment in the NHL/AHL or elsewhere, and do right by the capable core veterans who (presumably) have no stomach for tanking. This team is no longer stripping down madly for future talent, they are fine-tuning what should be a playoff competitive team. They have horses and a driver. Lay on the expectations, these are all capable pros expected to produce. No excuses short of IR.

Yeah sure anything is possible I guess. About the only thing I would see off the table this season is being a big buyer and mortgaging the future for the playoff run this year. I think the organization sees playoffs as reasonable goal but not willing to sacrifice premium picks/prospects to try to win it all.
I have posted very similar opinion on not going "all-in". Primarily because I don't believe they will see a positive benefit in a costly enhancement that remains a risky proposition vs a talent pipeline that could be the foundation for a decade-plus of competitive relevance.
For sure. The organization has things set up to be a potential powerhouse starting the season after this. Can't wait!

I get it though, Army always has a pretty good bead on what the team needs, and when he can get it. Although it's unlikely, if the Blues are out of the playoff picture by the trade deadline, I can see him flipping guys on expiring deals for picks. He did it in 2018 with Stastny, and they only missed on the last day of the season. I think playoff experience is key to this team so something would have to go SIDEWAYS for them to be out so far, but not impossible.
This team is cooking. With the talent on board and prospects maturing, at most the Blues splurge on a Center, and 'sell' to get one, if the new folks & prospects & vets can't get it done. They already bought their RHD. - that's about all there is in prospect, even if they come up a bit short re play-offs. The run at the end of the last year showed what the in-house roster, suitably motivated & coached & maturing, can accomplish. Absolutely no tear-down in prospect.
Early last Spring, that prospect didn't seem so far-fetched. Now it does, which a total credit to the team, Coach & Mgmt for making the right decisions & performing, at the critical times.
Sellers? Weren’t the Blues the best team in hockey the second half? I am fully expecting them make a move for MacDavid before the trading deadline this season to put them over the top. Blues should be one of the top 5 teams in the west.
The Blues lost 13 games to not being able to close out 6 on 5 situations. If they had gone even 6 and 7, in those games, they'd have finished with 108pts and tied for 4th in the entire league with the Leafs. They took the President's trophy winner to within 2 seconds of elimination. I just don't understand this narrative that the blues were a terrible team, other than a 12 game run.

LOL. This I like, collapsing Oiler team sends Broberg and Holloway a trip to the Finals for a 2026 1st! Get it done, boys!

please quit posting from these sites. They are click bait awful writing from know-nothings
You're right, but it's transparent, patently obvious. The shame is there are a hundred positive things they could post for clicks when there isn't any real news, instead they try to be cute in a sly way.

Not a fan of the premise of this article, but I suppose anything is possible.

Blues could be sellers sooner than expected in 2025-26
The St. Louis Blues could pivot this strategy this upcoming season if things don't go quite as expected at the start of the season.
By Nestor Quixtan
July 25, 2025
The St. Louis Blues could be compelled to sell off assets sooner rather than later this upcoming season.
A piece by Marco D’Amico published by RG Media on July 19 looked at how the trade market could heat up very quickly this upcoming season. In particular, the piece set Thanksgiving as an unofficial trade deadline.
Why Thanksgiving? Conventional wisdom around the NHL suggests that teams outside of a playoff spot by Thanksgiving are unlikely to make it.

Certain people here called them garbage, boring and horrible thru February. One clown bragged he stopped watching them for 20 games.
