I've been correct on this team since they whiffed on signing Harper.Melville wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 22:26 pmCorrect.11WSChamps wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 22:22 pm A MOB?
The standards have fallen off a cliff with fans and the organization.
The only player that remotely qualifies is Contreras.
Weird how folks object when truth is told.
Losing 4 out of 5 will do that.
Herrera. I warned about this.

36 XBH's.
As for as power is concerned, that is an awfully long "slump".
Again, facts are facts.
Career BA over .290.
Career OBP in the .360's.
Very little power.
As I said, very good chance he is a high BA / high OBP MLB hitter.
But he is not the middle order RH power bat nearly everyone here believed several weeks ago.
They were fooled.
I was not.
But, that is what happens when facts are examined without bias and without agenda.
It is critically important for this organization to expect players to be who they are - and not attempt to force them to become someone they are not.
Failing that basic task time after time after time is precisely why the organization is in its current condition.
I said he was an BA/OBP guy.
I appreciate your post above 100% supporting my position.

Re: Herrera. I warned about this.
You’re complaining about something he’s not even being used as lol but his .388 .418 1.051 OPS with men in scoring position a lot of middle of the order hitters would like to have. He also has only one fewer home run than the great unikkorn who is supposed to be a feared masher according to you and it’s in 30 fewer at batsMelville wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 22:33 pmMost clamored that he was finally the MOB RH bat the team needed.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 22:27 pmIn case the glaringly obvious has escaped your notice he doesn’t bat in the middle of the order he hits second where he came into the game batting .316 with a .381 OBPMelville wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 22:19 pm523 career PA's.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 20:47 pmPeople said the same thing when he slumped earlier then he heated up and they shut up. More of a 6 hole type hitter
Needs to get ball off ground and go opposite field

Re: Herrera. I warned about this.
That's the point.
Not a middle order RH power bat.
Not going to be.
He is a BA/OBP guy.
Some fans need to see players for who they are - and not be fooled a week here or a week there that teases something than will never be.
Super Slo has had a career long penchant for falling in love with the wrong guys.
Fans need to be smarter than that.
It is not a particularly high bar.

Bump. Melville never likes to see his glaringly contradictory posts rise from the archives.ClassicO wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 22:25 pmYou've been playing with your Orchestra too much. You agreed with Rockon that he could be "our power-hitting left fielder."
You fail to understand that your posts are in the system.

In that thread, I endorsed the move of Herrera to the outfield (as I alone first called for 3 years ago) - and specifically called out his BA/OBP prowess while calling his power ceiling into question.
Exactly the same position I have held in this thread.
Better luck next time friend.

Cherry picking a mini slump
Hererra
48 GP
198 PA
8 HR
37 RBI
.303 .374 .486 .859
141 OPS+
Looks like a solid MOTO bat to me

First, the org must employ people who know who these players are. The Cards appear to be in the Rookie League when it comes to that.Melville wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 22:19 pm523 career PA's.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 20:47 pmPeople said the same thing when he slumped earlier then he heated up and they shut up. Re: Herrera. I warned about this.
So you advocated him being out LF and praised his OBP and BA - and agreed with Rock that he’d be a power hitter. Yeah - I can see how that’s consistent! NO! Re: Herrera. I warned about this.
Remember, another recent gem was that Pedro Pages was the future catcher. Yes, this is the guy who can't hit (.576 OPS) and is a statue behind the plate (19th percentile in blocking pitches). He is at the 44th percentile in throwing out runners.icon wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 00:43 amBump. I was thinking the same thing. 4 XBH's in 68 PA's last month.
4 XBH's in his last 91 PA's.
2 doubles in his last 35 games.
Ugly.
Some declared him a middle order bat.
I warned against that thinking.
Said he could very well be a high BA, high OBP guy - but no evidence that he can become a middle order producer.
My advice?
Keep learning.
Type with one hand.
With the other, I direct the orchestra.
You need new material Sideshow!
And besides being pompous you’re a complete fraud.
How are your trainees doing??
BTW....we all KNOW what the other hand is doing while you’re typing!![]()

But.....since he is a valued troll that provides daily humor I do hope he is careful.
While “directing the orchestra with one hand” he could easily slip and the result would be “roughing up the suspect”!
That could put him off his game?
Easy
Obvious
Correct
