Because incompetence is unable to plan malice.

Well put.

Yeah, I don't imagine they did. Here's the thing, if they had we would have the same results. When ownership won't pay for talent to win then the members of the team get beat down after a while knowing their ownership doesn't care. But to be fair, cheating has happened in baseball. In fact it has happened in all pro sports. So, flat earth? Not hardly.AZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 07:36 amIn this case he is right. There is no way they told the pitchers to give up runs. These guys have self respect and pride. There is no way Gray was intentionally throwing meatballs to AZ. And no way management told them too. Why would they?CCard wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 09:27 amYeah, I don't imagine they did. Here's the thing, if they had we would have the same results. Well, the reason why they would tell him to is obvious. Better draft position comes with the losses. It's true they have pride and wouldn't partake of throwing a game most likely. It's also true that moral and lack of talent can sink a team as fast as anything. When things are going bad and ownership won't step up it only makes matters worse. And make no mistake, ownership has planned this losing. As for the meatballs? Well, did you watch the games? Sure looked like center cut prime rib to me. I'm sure it's just a bad series and lack of talent.AZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 11:02 amThese guys have self respect and pride. There is no way Gray was intentionally throwing meatballs to AZ. The OP might be onto something.

How deep are you going to go in this rabbit hole???CCard wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 07:04 amAll teams will beat your brains out if you throw the ball down the middle. As for conspiracies, well, some are real and most are not. They aren't inherently American.I doubt they were "told" to throw it down the middle. I probably put a little too much hyperbole in my quote and of course took the flak for it. Is it a conspiracy to say ownership made the decision to lose? They're sure loving them high draft picks. What do you call it when an organization agrees to lose yet puts out the quote "reset" in response to being called out for losing on purpose?

Simply don't respond. That would be your best approach. Go read a post from one of your brethren.nighthawk wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 16:56 pmHow deep are you going to go in this rabbit hole???CCard wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025 07:04 amAll teams will beat your brains out if you throw the ball down the middle.
