Anyone believe Carbonneau is close?

I like the Carbonneau pick. I think that he has great potential. However, I didn't see a player in prospect camp that is NHL-ready. He looked like a green bean, not the best player out there 100% of the time.

I'm particularly stunned by Army's NHL-tomorrow handling of Carbonneau. The 2023 and 2024 prospects have been painfully slow-walked by Army, and now with Carbonneau it's the exact opposite. Carbonneau is getting the rush-job.

I'm curious. Does anyone see/believe that Carbonneau is ready for the NHL this year?

The Blues are just pumping the kid’s tires a bit like every team does with their prospects. At most he could get a 9 game (or less) trial to give him a taste of the NHL. It’s super unlikely that he fully makes the jump this year when we’ve got a small handful of forward prospects already in the AHL chomping at the bit.

I think it is a legit question, the Blues have for sure talked about this prospect differently.

Physical maturity and playing wing are probably factors.

Is it possible Army wants Carbonneau to come to camp to take him down a peg or two? Carbonneau has been physically dominating kids and it may have given him a false impression of his readiness. When he comes to camp, he’ll be going up against men, especially if he plays in any preseason games. He’ll find the physicality a little different. I actually really like the idea of them doing that. Anytime the kids can spend time with the big club, no matter the sport, is beneficial IMO.

Its not beneficial at all if an 18 year old turns the puck over and you lose the eighth game of the season then miss the playoffs by 2 points.

#1) The original post clearly referenced the preseason. Multiple times.

#2) What if he scores a game winning goal in the eighth game and they make the playoffs by two points? Random hypotheticals swing both ways.

I'm very eager to see the prospects melding in. I mostly assumed Carbonneau would take years to get to the NHL, like the rest. Maybe not. Maybe he merges in sooner and at the same timing as the 2023 crop.

Carbonneau is not being talked about by Blues Mgmt like the 2023 and 2024 crop. Army and the rest of Blues Mgmt make it seem like he is close to the NHL. I never got the feeling from the other prospects. In fact, 2 years later, Army doesn't even remotely promise a Dvorsky and Lindstein.

Anyone that watched Carbonneau can see that he is no more advanced than the others were. His skating, speed, defense and team play are all green. The thing that stands out is his shot and nose for the net.

Without a doubt, the Blues are sending a message to someone through Carbonneau. I would bet on it.

Now back to reality....

Remember when the season was "over" in early February? Everyone asked for Dvorsky, and Army said. No way. I wouldn't bring any prospect into this mess...
The question should not be is Carbonneau ready. The first question should be "Is the mess over such that we can bring in a prospect"? Are we gonna see any prospects anytime soon? When are we gonna see any benefit from the re-whatever that you said is now over?

The Blues were not a mess in February. Montgomery was brought in November 24th. Team played better and better as the season went along.
