I'm particularly stunned by Army's NHL-tomorrow handling of Carbonneau. The 2023 and 2024 prospects have been painfully slow-walked by Army, and now with Carbonneau it's the exact opposite. Carbonneau is getting the rush-job.

I'm curious. Does anyone see/believe that Carbonneau is ready for the NHL this year?

So gents what do you think should i cook some meat loaf sunday or shoukd i ma home made lasagna?

I think it is a legit question, the Blues have for sure talked about this prospect differently.

Physical maturity and playing wing are probably factors.

If he stands up to it, he might be more ready than anyone thinks. More likely, it’ll be a huge education.
I actually really like the idea of them doing that. Anytime the kids can spend time with the big club, no matter the sport, is beneficial IMO.
Its not beneficial at all if an 18 year old turns the puck over and you lose the eighth game of the season then miss the playoffs by 2 points.
#1) The original post clearly referenced the preseason. Multiple times.

#2) What if he scores a game winning goal in the eighth game and they make the playoffs by two points? Random hypotheticals swing both ways.

Thanks for the discussion, guys.

I'm very eager to see the prospects melding in. I mostly assumed Carbonneau would take years to get to the NHL, like the rest. Maybe not. Maybe he merges in sooner and at the same timing as the 2023 crop.

My bad I thought we were talking about the 9 game trial, he could but we are more likely to get points with our best players on the ice and they should be all 82 games IMO.

Could it be that Army wants to light a fire under Kyrou and/or Snuggerud?

Or is he looking to force Kyrou to want a trade?

He's not even close to making the team. If army did make any claims, it sounds like he wants his wigers to work hard in camp, and come in and play their best.

this kid is 2 years away from AHL, let alone nhl

Here is one article. I'm sure that there are others. You don't remember hearing that the Blues think that the kid has a shot at making the club soon?

https://dose.ca/2025/07/04/justin-carbo ... n-the-nhl/
I see lots of fan blog projecting there. Very little in actual substance. Here’s the quote they base all their conjecture on:
I used to look at [Jim Montgomery] and say, “He’s going to make it hard for us, him.” – Doug Armstrong
He used to say this? Ok, what is he saying now? If he used to say this sort of thing then the example wasn’t about Carbonneau.

Here’s what I think. I think Army was paying the kid a compliment. Saying he’s doing well. Giving him a carrot to chase. But Army also isn’t an idiot. He knows Carbo has near zero chance of actually making the team out of camp. Your theory is based on fan blog conjecture IMO.
That original quote goes back to an interview Army did on 101 ESPN right after the end of development camp. Cary Davis asked Army if it was a foregone conclusion he is going back to Juniors and or does he have an outside shot of making the team out of camp. Army Joked with Cary that he must have been standing behind him and Monty because he said to Monty, he is going to make it hard on us. He then goes on to say he has a mans body and he likes his willingness to go into the hard areas to score. Finishes by saying he has to choose between Juniors and College first, and if he is in camp he wouldn't be surprised if he makes some noise.

That said, most of the Blues best forward prospects (Dvorsky, Snuggerud, Stenberg, Dean) weren't even at development camp, so its not like he was competing against even the best the Blues had to offer.

Thank you for that! So “he looked good against his age group, now we’ll see how he looks against men.” and “if he comes to camp, I’m not going to be shocked if he makes some noise.” has turned into the Blues think he’s NHL ready and they’re fast tracking him. The Blues Talk game of telephone strikes again (unsurprisingly).

Look at all the statements for yourself.

Carbonneau is not being talked about by Blues Mgmt like the 2023 and 2024 crop. Army and the rest of Blues Mgmt make it seem like he is close to the NHL. I never got the feeling from the other prospects. In fact, 2 years later, Army doesn't even remotely promise a Dvorsky and Lindstein.

Anyone that watched Carbonneau can see that he is no more advanced than the others were. His skating, speed, defense and team play are all green. The thing that stands out is his shot and nose for the net.

Without a doubt, the Blues are sending a message to someone through Carbonneau. I would bet on it.

Now back to reality....

Remember when the season was "over" in early February? Everyone asked for Dvorsky, and Army said. No way. I wouldn't bring any prospect into this mess...
The question should not be is Carbonneau ready. The first question should be "Is the mess over such that we can bring in a prospect"? Are we gonna see any prospects anytime soon? When are we gonna see any benefit from the re-whatever that you said is now over?

You are either a liar or you suffer from dementia.
The Blues were not a mess in February. Montgomery was brought in November 24th. Team played better and better as the season went along.

You are so Hell bent on being negative and trashing Army you are extorting the facts to fit your agenda. And you wonder why all the posters bring up food after some of your posts.
Admit you are biased….and you stretch the truth….You might still have a minuscule chance of gaining some respect on here instead of being laughed at. I’m not saying that to be mean….just trying to help.
