The battles between the Cardinals and the Astros Killer-B's were epic postseason drama in those days. If while it was happening, you knew it was something special.
I had a lot of respect for the Astros organization back then.
It got trashed when Jeff Lunhow and Sig Mejdal stole Cardinal intellectual property in the form of software when they moved over. Then cheat gate happened.
I don't think much of the Astros anymore and root against them. Ethics matter.
Cocaine…..steroids……federal cyber crime……players charged with domestic assault…..fights in strip bar parking lots..players and managers busted for drunk driving …and you think ethics matter?
How very Cardinal of you…
Correa was no hacker. He just typed in the login and password that was embedded in the Cardinal software'.
He should have just reported it up and been done. He was dumb enough to try and see Astros data and assessments. He was stupid and went jail for it.
Cardinal brass also let him get hit by the bus on that. They paid the price with draft picks. But they should have taken care of Correa too.
Lunhow had a culture of doing anything to win. It's why he isn't in the game anymore. They stole the foundation of their analytics from the Cardinals and used it to build a championship team. No I don't root for them.
The rest, alcoholism, drug use, car accidents, deaths? Do the Cardinals have more problems with this than other teams or the entire culture? The team was owned by a brewery, so maybe there is something there.
Sure ethics matter. They always do. But no team measures up here so might as well not root for anybody.
