Re: Extension for Oil now?
At this point, it would not surprise me. We have an outgoing pobo running the trade deadline to set a roster he won't have anything to do with past September. So he probably has the sole authority to extend Lil oli.
Re: Extension for Oil now?
BTW, does anybody else think Oli looks like Kash Patel ?

Thanks for the laugh of the day!
But no
I don't want "oil" to extend upward, we need to keep it under $70 to help keep inflation down.

Re: Extension for Oil now?
Mo has his title, salary, and runs the day-to-day operations of the team’s administration. However, he has no authority. That has been transferred to Bloom (at least his share. DeWitt is still, and always has been, the final authority). Oli’s fate is in the hands of Bloom and DeWitt. If Oli IS extended, it will be because Bloom wants someone he can workJuanAgosto wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025 20:16 pm At this point, it would not surprise me. with and knows the organization. If you’re expecting a big change in how the team is run, I fear you’ll be terribly disappointed.

14-14 in June and 4-7 so far in July (to be fair, 15-12 over the last month). You are either smoking something or forgot the blue font.
Oli, to his credit, is doing a better job this year. But it's far from good enough, and he will never improve his paint-by-numbers bullpen management philosophy. It seems he likes to cycle through all the effective relievers until he can find the one having a bad day. I don't see them firing Oli duing the season, I just hope they let him go in the offseason.

I’d like to frame the following quote, make 3 copies, and hang one copy in the Cards dugout and another in Oli’s office and another in Mozo the Clown’s office:BrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑15 Jul 2025 10:28 am14-14 in June and 4-7 so far in July (to be fair, 15-12 over the last month). And it's worse these days with the 3-batter minimum rule.

Ask yourself? If you were Bloom would you:
Join the organization for 2024 to learn the ropes?
Accept the POBO position starting at the conclusion of the 2025 season?
Sit there in 2025 and say nothing while MO does whatever he wants?
I see MO currently as a figurehead.

I think John Mozeliak controls more than you think. Like I said earlier, it's ridiculous to have him in charge of the trade deadline. He should have zero to do with it. If he and Bloom disagree on a trade & DeWitt sides with Mo, it screws things up. Let Bloom run this.Red7 wrote: ↑15 Jul 2025 10:06 amMo has his title, salary, and runs the day-to-day operations of the team’s administration. However, he has no authority. As for there being little change moving forward, I hope you are wrong. But unfortunately, you are probably right.

Extend his contract?
I would prefer they shorten his plank

Re: Extension for Oil now?
He will not be “in charge” of the trade deadline. While he may handle the negotiations and paperwork, the parameters will be set by Bloom and DeWitt, with input from Mo. Mo no longer has the authority to unilaterally make moves, especially ones that impact beyond 2025. Bloom’s not so desperate for a job that he’d sit back while a deal was made that would impact or derail the plans he’s worked for a year to put in place. And, DeWitt’s certainly not going to pay a guy for 2 years only to allow him to be undercut and most likely walk away.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑15 Jul 2025 11:38 amI think John Mozeliak controls more than you think.
