Crav, while it’s nice there are dozens better IMHO.

I love the look out over the Bay...and the some the Architecture floor me.

I know there's better....UVA. Cornell. Pepperdine (not sure if it burnt down recently with all those fires, I hope not.)

Are you confusing Stetson? There’s no bay near there.

Picklefork wrote: 14 Jul 2025 14:13 pm Anyone up for some Sam Horn (Mizzou) intrigue for the Cards 11th round pick?
Horn drew comparisons to Bubba Chandler as a Georgia high school right-hander/quarterback in 2022, and while evaluators rated Chandler (now the best mound prospect in the Minors) as having more explosive stuff, Horn was a superior athlete, strike thrower and passer. A four-star football recruit, he turned down seven-figure overtures from MLB teams to attend Missouri as a two-sport athlete. He wowed scouts in his college baseball debut in February 2023 but injured his elbow in his second outing and eventually had Tommy John surgery that cost him all of 2024. Returning to the mound this April following spring football, Horn struck out 14 in 10 2/3 innings while working at 93-95 mph and touching 98 with armside run and sink on his fastball. He hasn't recaptured feel for his slider, though he did show the ability to get chases with his 82-86 mph sweeper. He barely used his mid-80s changeup with fade. Horn creates quality extension with his 6-foot-4 frame and athletic delivery, providing deception with a low arm slot and release height. He's still refining his control and command after working just 15 innings in three college seasons, but they should become average as he gains more experience. Clubs are trying to weigh his upside versus his lack of track record, and his desire to turn pro in baseball while continuing to compete for Missouri's starting quarterback job complicates matters.
Sam Horm is #221 on BAs list. He may have registered for this draft? But he's going to play football for Mizzou.

Draft Prospects

Ranked #221 prospect in 2025 draft
School: Missouri Drafted/Committed: Never Drafted
Age At Draft: 21.9

Horn was a high-end prospect coming out of high school who drew Bubba Chandler comparisons as a Georgia product and multi-sport athlete. He was a quarterback at Collins High School and teammates with future Heisman trophy winner Travis Hunter. Horn is also a member of Missouri’s football team as a quarterback, and he has very little baseball track record to speak of in college. He pitched in just two games in 2023, missed the entire 2024 season because of Tommy John surgery and only returned to the mound in late April 2025. Horn pitched just 10.2 innings in 2025, striking out 14 batters but also walking eight. Even in limited doses, his arm talent is obvious. He’s been up to 98 mph with his fastball and also threw a two-seamer variant this spring. His biting slider looks like a plus pitch at its best and hitters missed it 42% of the time this spring. But there’s plenty of uncertainty about him given his extreme lack of playing time, and he’s also locked in a quarterback battle this spring to potentially start for Missouri this fall on the gridiron.

He can still be drafted, sign with a MLB team and play football in the Fall. Ala Kyler Murray when he was playing for Oklahoma and the A's minor league team. It's just about the risk of him getting hurt, choosing football or in Horn's case the risk that he just isn't going to be any good b/c he has hasn't shown anything since HS?

I like the Flores pick 73/250 before having a bad season on BA. seems like a decent flyer in the 11th.

I think the only picks I can look at optimistically so far are the weingartner and Dattalo. All the others I can squint and make a case.

surprisingly.... Zero Catchers in the first 10 rounds.

we always stock up on Catching each draft....no exception.

Incredible. I guess they're betting on Maikel Hernandez, Sammy Hernandez, Rainiel Rodriguez, Carlos Loazia filling in the gaps left by Bernal? Campos certainly isn't the answer behind the plate. Worst pick of the last 4 years by Flores and Company.
