Once again, it's been a lot of fun conversing with you all. Thanks for all the participation the last 5 months. The Draft Board was a gigantic thread.

Different draft this year than last, I hope we can make our picks after the 1st round really count. Bigger bonus pool this year, and 2 more picks early in the draft!!

Thanks for opening these threads, Duce.

I would be fine with Willits. It's the long game, and I still worry about Winn's hitting, so I'm fine with going for potential at SS - or moving him like the Padres have done so well.

Barring surprises ahead of them it sure seems like it'll be Willits or Arnold. And probably in that order.

As you know, any pick they make in this particular draft will be met with 50% responses of outrage, pitchforks, and torches.
Hysterical when less than 1% have watched these guys play more than on a highlight tape (which are, by definition, their best plays).

Up early this morning so started to dig into the draft heavily. I think the Cardinals take Tyler Bremner and sign him to minimum underslot deal. Wrote this up in another thread I started but I'll copy it here too.

Bremner started slow but had 10 or more K's, 6+innings, and 3 or less ER in 6 of his last 7 starts. His dumb college team held him out of their elimination game and went with the normal slot in the rotation. Had he gotten that start and kept up his recent dominance then I think he'd be a slam dunk top 10 and maybe top 5 if a team is looking for a RHP over the lefties. Bremner has the best FB/Changeup combo in the draft but his slider was inconsistent to start the year. Once he locked it in he was dominant. Uc Santa Barbara is not a high end college for developing pitchers too so I think there is a ton of untapped potential with Bremner. Would not be upset if the Cardinals take him at 5.

But would love for the Rockies to pass on Matty's boy but they won't, too good a player and marketing opportunity given how popular Matt was in Denver.

Arquette to the Pirates seems way out of the norm for them.

I will say that Bremner feels like a typical Cardinal pick if past is protocol. Good fastball and a changeup that some scouts grade at 70. Kinda sounds like Michael Wacha with a better fastball. Add to that, they me be able to sign him underslot and maybe you're on to something here. I'd be fine with that pick

If the Cardinals go hitter, they need to get one that projects some real power. Does Willits do that? Not sure if Arquette does either. Holliday might just fit that description but is unlikely to be available.

I am unfamiliar with the options but I would be targeting either a big power hitter or a college type close to big league ace.
