Jared Jones has 22 HRs and an OPS of 1.027 for LSU. He's still available.
1.027 OPS with an Aluminum bat doesn't knock my knees....just sayin'
If they all use aluminum bats, isn't it relative between players?
Ethan Young. Unranked by MLB.com
But had an ERA of 3.84 with 92 Ks in 70.1 innings. Sensible pick this time. They sure are drafting for pitching.
Trend or necessity.
And we can say the same thing about a bat.
The flame out of arms is high. The MLB rotation may consist of whatever comes from the system
and some journeyman types. I just don't think teams want to bid on TOR pitching.
Miura is a perfect example. He played in 55 games for the Rainbows and had 3 home runs. Did steal 18 bases in 24 attempts.
But aren't guys like this pretty average? Antico types, whom the Cardinals didn't even call up when they needed an outfielder? Instead they pulled one off DFA heap from another team.
It would seem, the way they are drafting these unranked players now, that the Cardinals must be figuring it will take most of their money to sign their first three picks!

The old model that worked just fine. Draft for pitching, and as they develop use them as trade chips to fill position player needs.

yeah, and they have a pick or two up their sleeves remaining...sign away a hurt player, or have a big signing for a Prep Guy. The San Diego 1B and this Hawaii lad are probably underslot signings to save 100K or 200K

like I said, our pitching is pretty brutal in Palm Beach and Peoria...we're in need of a restock....immediate restock.

I get that Crav, but it seems such a waste to pick these guys this high in the draft knowing in 2 or 3 years they’ll just be let go. I know they’ve done this in the past and the guy they saved all that money for, didn’t pan out either. The draft really is a (bleep) shoot, but I don’t like the way this draft is going now. It’s looking like today’s picks are all mostly just cannon fodder. No offense to these players or their families, but nobody had them being picked this high. I guess let’s see who they’re saving their money, but he better be darned good!

Savacool is in Peoria now.
True, and he's doing reasonably well. What was the rotation ERA of Palm Beach in 2024? And haven't some of those guys already been promoted up to Springfield?

that's the kicker....with the the minors being trimmed to 4 full season, 1 short season league....draft being 20 rounds and ran late in the summer....these kids get cut 2-3 years after draft now. It's more brutal than it used to be. Big Cuts coming tomorrow/today in the minors to make room for the new crop. Guys like Jobert, Yeager, Adkison, Curialle, Rodriguez (Dionys), etc...might be on the chopping block....Adkison has shown better this season, he may stick. Buchberger is likely gone, imo
